MC 707 / 101 : New Roland Grooveboxes

@muzka tasty samples!

@gerkinear thanks for your feedback, man! Regarding the OT, I don’t plan on using it to master (can’t say I master my musical shenanigans…), but being very sample oriented, I feel that even the sweetest synth progression can benefit from a little twist from the OT.

Anyway, I think I’m gonna go with the 101 and don’t shoot myself in the foot with too many complex machines at once.

So… could someone check pls. if there is ‘stereo width from 0% to 200%’ effect in MC707 or MC101?

Thanks

One more question to more or less seal the deal: from what I gather, you can sample from USB with the 101. In the first FW versions, that was only for the looper, right? Can you currently sample from USB, save the sample then load it / edit it in a drum track? What I found online is a bit unclear…

TR is for Transistor rhythm

SH-01 stands for Synth in Japanese

Just went through the 707 manual and there is no mention of stereo widening/narrowing. There is a full list of instrument/multi fx on page 84 of the manual here., followed by detailed information on all of their parameters.

i found in the manual stereo width setting from 0-100 it seems it is a parameter for synth and is not a separate effect. Unfortunately I do not have any of these MCs so I can’t check that.

I have 101 and don’t remember having seen these parameters. It looks these are accessible parameters for 707, not 101 (but I may be wrong).

Does anyone know if it’s possible to use audio over USB with 707/101 same time as DN audio over USB via Overbridge on Windows?

Would be awesome to have a setup thats more tightly integrated with my DAW only via USB. But I’ve heard something about Windows only being able to handle one audio-interface at a time, would that matter in this case?

I think overbridge allows for audio over usb without having to select DN as the audio interface. So yes, I think it should be possible, but not 100% sure

Does any sequence their 101 with hardware via usb?

I set up my opz with the 101 to sequence it connected through usb and a powered hub. Hub works connected to other devices, not the 101. Cant find much help online

Thanks

Question for the mc707 owners: can you apply an LFO to your drums? Let’s say, to modulate the decay of a hihat…

1.6 is coming

For a while, I was concerned the presenter was being held against his will…

Stoked about ios integration though.

looks like the software editor could also work with the 707

wow, they implemented (fixed) switching all 128 scenes via Program Change messages!
finally, i can drop my kludge solution.

edit: HELL YEAH!!! finally, true USB class compliance! it’s working!!

i don’t have to occupy precious MIDI ports anymore!

going to have fun trying out the random tone generator on the 101
could really mitigate the lack of deep synth edit.

Also whether the new generic usb audio means that the 101 can sample over usb …

Hmm gets better and better.
The 101 is my favorite box at the moment.
Wonder if my joy would be maximized with the 707 or if it is the limited nature of the 101 that speaks to me.
