Micromonsta 2

Received 3 hours ago!
Great bottle opener.

Great sounds !

Dirty acid demo, I wanted to test drive first
Drums also from MM2. Sequenced by Digitone.

Where is it written?
3 is my favorite number. Can we exchange?
Edit : saw it in the box. SN 009.
Itā€™s ok, my birthday is 0303 so as 3x3=9, Iā€™m good. :content:

enjoy!
could you confirm if the filter knobs have value jumps between presets, or thereā€™s some kind of pickup modeā€¦?

This can be improved. I mentioned it in a french forum. Thereā€™s a kind of morph transition a bit too slow for my needs. Iā€™d prefer a jump with a quick fade out. I try to use drums with a program each 4 steps, not great yet.

I know Pickup machines, but I donā€™t know what you meanā€¦

pickup mode means the knob doesnā€™t respond to changes unless you pass through the original value, then it ā€œpicks upā€ from thereā€¦
alternatively, thereā€™s also relative mode - ie. if youā€™re original value was at 9 oā€™clock and your knob itā€™s at 12, it will re-scale the remaining values so they fit in whatā€™s left of the trajectory.
This can of course have itā€™s issues - for example if you need to fit 90% of the values in 10% of the knob trajectory - but both modes are very common and helpfulā€¦ many synths with these adversities let you pick between this modes

I think thatā€™s it. I had the same problem sending CCs to control filter. Too long lag for my taste, even placing lock trigs before target value.

No pickup mode, itā€™s immediate (with an interpolation so it doesnā€™t click or whatever).
What you want is an encoder and lucky you, there are 4, and they are assignable.
You can even repurpose the F knob globally if you donā€™t like it tied to the filter cutoff.

Maybe weā€™ll add another mode in the future tho, weā€™ll see.

Cool demo @sezare56

Yeah now that you mention it , iirc from reading the manual you could assign the encoders for quick access in the ā€œmainā€ page ( canā€™t remember the name ) , similar to the P6, right?

Absolutely, thatā€™s what @sezare56 did in its acid test video above

Beautiful demo!

Hey can you put up some pulse 2 stuff too?!

Micromonsta 2 priority!

Summary

And some other stuff, as you knowā€¦ :content:
Btw I already tested patch changes with Pulse 2, which is clicky with filter changes, osc/paraphonic settings. Blofeld was really efficient in that concern. I could control a bank as a drum kit, mapping Octatrack notes to program changes with a midi processorā€¦

These settings are apparently common for all patches.

Nope you can override per patch, in program settings

I noticed you donā€™t have all that many demos of the MicroMonsta2 on your website yet. You got more coming? I would imagine no one knows this synth better than you, yet anyway

Pick up mode (sometimes called catch mode or catch up) should not affect midi control of parameters. With pick up mode, when you turn a potentiometer it doesnā€™t immediately change the parameter, you first have to move the knob to the current value. E.g. cutoff is at 30 and you load a preset which has a cutoff value of 70 saved, now you first have to move the knob to 70 then you have control of the parameter.

I received mine yesterday. Very easy to use, gorgeous soundā€¦ the reverb is excellent too. Thatā€™s a keeper.

Sorry, but I misunderstood that and confounded with interpolation of different settings from external midi program changes, or control changes.

Yep.

Would love to hear more about the FM capabilities? Exponential/linear + some demos if anyone is willing to share
