Midi Controlled Multi-Effects in Stereo

I want to control various parameters via OT. I was thinking H9max but I don’t think you have a full array of effects to go crazy with

If anybody has any cool tips, please let me know.

How about the Kurzweil Mangler?

Never heard of it, but I’ll check it out! Thanks!

It also has some really nice converters; they capture a lot of detail, and sound very dimensional.

Just remembered I have a Hd500 multi fx/amp sim pedal that I’d retired until I play shows again. I only ever used it in past for guitar when I didn’t want to carry my main pedal board.

Need to read up on the midi depth but potentially could be kinda fun/useful with non-guitar hardware. Has a ton of amp/cabinet sims etc as well as all the normal stuff (delays/pitch/verbs/filters etc)… Pretty big unit tho and I never really dug the sound. I’ll let you know if it turns out any nice surprises…

Also thinking now about using it as a midi brain for the rest of my pedals if the (multi-assignable) expression pedal works nice sending out via midi… Need to grab one of those empress midibox convertor things for chase bliss and empress pedals… And find some time to fiddle round with it all

I’m just seeing a mono input on that. Could you use a stereo 1/4’’?

Never thought about it until today but just assumed it had stereo inputs, maybe not tho? I need to check it out. If not then I think the aux input is stereo?

Second hand Eventide Eclipse ? 850€ on AF

There must be thousands of multi-FX racks out there…

Now I’d love to come up with a stereo distortion by hacking one of Techniguitare excellent DIY kits…

You can get pretty far out just using the Resonator algorithm on the H9. Most (if not all) of the algorithms can do extreme due to the wide range of each parameter. Midi control is a breeze and it is extremely easy to setup the expression pedal to control numerous parameters, with individual range and direction for each parameter (and the expression pedal can be a midi controller).

Personally I would not recommend the H9 Max as an initial buy. Buy the H9 Core and use the software to try all the algorithms to determine how many you like and would have a need for (you may be surprised with how few you actually want plus there is a fair degree of overlap ). You don’t need to have many algorithms before a second H9 is more of a requirement than another algorithm.

Fireworx can get pretty out-there. It also has envelope followers which can control parameters so your input can control the flanger level or whatever. Ive got some mental feedback loop stuff going on with the input ducking the feedback so it never overloaded.

Does mono pitch following, various other things. loads of control, you can macro stuff to the alpha dial & automate that

THAT’S IT! thank you for your contribution!

it also has send & return from the unit which is cool.

My buddy just got a fireworx and loves it, plenty of weirdness to be had. I recently picked up the kurzweil ksp8, kinda like 8 of the rumor and mangler in a modular environment. MIDI control options are absolutely nuts. Plug an OT in to control it and things get real weird real quick:pill::pill::pill::tada::tada::tada:

omg that looks the nuts. I was looking the mangler et al & they were impossible to find when I had the spare cash.

One thing about the fireworx, you can run out of processing power if you stack the more hungry processes. - im guessing the 8x nature of the ksp8 does away with any of that. generally you can have 3-4 different fx at once (reverb can be pretty heavy)

i also have a question here:

besides the H9, which box does a really good RESONATER fx
and which a good digital FIXED FILTERBANK ?
