Hello all,
Okay so as far as I’m aware, the midi thru on the OT is a direct rep of whatever is fed into the midi in.
Is there any way of making it a second midi out?
Cheers
I don’t think so unfortunately.
Another frustration with the Elektron boxes is that hooking shit up via midi thru means you lose that boxes midi out functionality - or maybe I’m just being incredibly stupid. What I mean is, for example, I have the AK at the end of my midi chain and going back into my computer. If I use the thru port (thus giving me access to the OT’s midi arps and what not) I can’t use the keys on the AK. Wasn’t a problem before when OB was working correctly with midi over USB on multiple devices for me but causes a minor issue now.
Sorry, completely hijacked the thread there
well, I’m in a really frustrating situation here,
Im running a computer less set up.
OT is master clock/mixer etc.
I have an 808 and a nord rack 2 I want to connect.
I have a kenton pro solo 2 and a future retro swynx.
Both have the ability to convert midi to din so I can sync my 808, and they both work beautifully. The problem is that the swynx only transmits midi clock on the midi out so the I can’t chain the nord to it.
So I figure ill make the nord the 1st in the chain, its midi out going to the swynx midi to sync the 808, but alas the nord doesn’t transmit clock on the midi out.
Ive always found a way to make these things work, and with far more complex set ups, but this one has proper frustrated me. What I need is a midi splitter like the kenton thru5, but alas I have the kenton din splitter instead lol.
Joy
the nord rack 2 has only got an Out, it doesn’t transmit any clock, so it’s a prime candidate for the end of a chain ! quite a few threads on splitters and patchable midi boxes too - and i think there’s a passive 2-way one available from thomann fairly cheaply
Yer i know the low down on splitters etc, and Im not looking to buy anything new to make it work. I just found it strange that all three boxes (nord, octa and swynx) had limitations on one midi port or another.
Nord is back in the box and the 202 is out to play, problem solved!
