New machines would be great, even just 1.
The freaking power bar… where’s that thing at!?
“Overbridge Lite”. I think if Elektron would have made 6 track out through USB the Cycles would be one of the best pieces of gear available today. I feel like they leaned into the “more affordable digitone little sibling” approach too much and stripped it down too far. Being locked into a single stereo signal out is just too limiting when it comes to making full songs with it which happens to be my favorite thing to do with it. I’m working on a 100% M:C album right now and the bounce process is laborious, tedious and annoying.
I don’t really care about the delay into reverb.
I don’t really care about the limited LFO’s although destination would be handy because I barely ever use the Kick’s LFO… why not repurpose it?
At the end of the day, the biggest issue is the single stereo out.
One last thing though, it’s really hard to figure out what patch you have loaded on an individual trig or track. Pressing and holding the preset button should tell you the patch name and machine so you can reverse engineer things. Even a little dot next to the patch on the track would go a long way.
I share your frustration, but I think I can understand why it’s done this way. Say you have a kick preset called ‘BD SIKK’ you load that into your track 1 and in your ideal world you can see that track has ‘BD SIKK’ on it. Now adjust the decay ever so slightly (say from 23 -> 24) . Should the track still stay ‘BD SIKK’ ? It isn’t really. It’s very close though. So when you save the track sound as a preset, should it default to a name of ‘BD SIKK’ ? What if that was to overwite the original ‘BD SIKK’ ? Or maybe that’s a thing that should never be allowed because it’s actually a different preset.
Now think about if you changed the Decay from 23->28. Does that change any of your answers. How about 23->120 ?
Nothing insurmountable in programming terms but an awful lot of user interface decisions to figure out. Potentially a can of worms. I think I may understand why they chose to avoid doing this.
I hear ya. That definitely makes things more complicated, but there is a design pattern for that in other synths and user interfaces. Usually, it’s some sort of dot to show the preset has been modified in some way, and of course, you can save your preset/patch in the cycles, so it would then show that name you gave it.
Random thought. Since the M:C has stereo out AND headphone out, it would be pretty dope if you could send the volume of a track to one or both. For playing live you could send a track to just headphones, dial it in, then route it to the main outs.
idk… probably low on the totem pole but could be fun.
I might be crying in the void but please can we get parameter slides like the Analog Rytm has? I’ve been producing drill/midwest hiphop and it’s not too easy to make 808 slides. I love this machine and I’d love some updates and new soundpacks or that battery handle.
Recently i’ve been using the control all funtion quite a lot to change parameters for all tracks at once.
Was thinking it could be cool to be able to toggle some of the tracks off so they aren’t effected.
For example I have four chord machines set up and a kick and some hihats. It would be cool to change the parameters for the chord machines while keeping the kick and hihats as they are.
Sometimes when effecting all the tracks at once the metal instrument can sound a little off and the kick can become a bit too heavy for what i’m going for.
Hi ! Did anyone from Elektron hint about the possibility of adding features to the M:S / M:C ? Is there any clue it might actually be happening ? (I know they are good already, and won’t stop working
I’m asking that because I don’t want to be tempted by new hardware and love the idea of keeping stuff in the long run.
So I actually had a weird glitch(?) recently where it did function like a mute mode!
I remember I was in grid record mode in a track while the machine was playing, and I hit another track to select it but it muted! Worked on the other track buttons too. Once I stopped playing the pattern I couldn’t replicate it. Back to normal…
Somehow maybe it hung when I was using FUNC and the track buttons to mute? Is this a known glitch that I missed? It’ll be super useful if it isn’t too finicky!
