Model:Samples Tips & Tricks Thread

can you confirm does this only store files in iCloud?
what if you don’t use iCloud?

No idea, I’m afraid. I use the Android version and I haven’t had a chance to play around with it yet.

The options I have for file access on iOS are:

  • iCloud Drive
  • My Phone
  • Google Drive
  • Adobe Doc Cloud
  • Dropbox

Hey, I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to repeat it. It seems pretty obvious now, but it didn’t occur to me until the other day that if you lock all of the samples in a track, you can have a sample that’s not in the pattern on the pad.

That means, you can basically have the pads working as mute buttons if you load a sample that’s just silence on the pad. Neat

Hi everyone,
Just got the Model:Samples and lovin it, I’m having loads of fun.

One problem I came across with is this : when a pattern is playing, if for example I change the length of one of the tracks via the scale setup for a weird value, and then revert back to the standard one, this track then gets “out of sync” with the others. Is there a way to reset the synchronization for that track to normal? Apart from stopping the sequencer and starting it again I mean.

M:C owner here. Would like to know more about this too. I’ve noticed the same thing, even when when changing the track length to one of the more regular values (16, 32 …) .

I wonder if you can get more predictable results by shortening the track only when on the shortened part. So, for instance, if you’ve got a 64 step track that you want to shorten to 16, only change while on steps 1-16 ?

Sorry, not exactly the same thing as you’re asking.

I usually just hit stop at the last beat of the bar and then play again in time with where the start of the bar would be.

There’s currently no other way to sync the tracks other than stopping and starting, or moving to another pattern and back again.

Copying the pattern and launching the copy works fine, thanks for the suggestion! Doing a temp save before messing with the scale setup then reloading is perfect too.

I’m using an external clock (erm midiclock, https://www.e-rm.de/midiclock/) that allows re-sync without stopping.

just so you know that this is a tips thread, mixeur and pselodux offered a couple of tips, but if you start a thread about syncing issues you might get more solutions

Sorry about that, my bad!

no worries we got some tips out of it all

Does anyone know the way how to stay within the folder when changing tracks?
I have the same issue - have a folder of let’s say 20 samples and want to audition them and choose subset of 6 and assign them to 6 M:S tracks. But currently everytime I change the track I need to browse the folders tree again which is not intuitive…

Easiest way that I can think to do it is to pick one and then copy the sound across all six tracks. Then when you’re trying to pick samples for each track you’ll start off in the right folder.

Another way to do this would be to load the whole directory (select the folder and long-press the LEVEL/DATA knob). This will load samples from the specified directory to each track. These may not be the samples you want to use, but you won’t need to navigate back to this directory when you change tracks, at least.

Bonus points for numbering the samples 1–6 (and omitting numbers from any other samples) to create a default ‘directory load’.

Yeah do it this way actually. This way you don’t have to copy and paste anything

Maybe everyone already knows this, but I just discovered it and it’s not in the manual, so …

  1. Hold down RETRIG.
  2. Press any pad (T1–T6).
  3. Increase or decrease pressure to modulate velocity! :open_mouth:

It works even if you are using fixed velocity on your pads.

Even better: assign a parameter to be modulated by velocity (cutoff is nice for this one).

I wish this feature was more useful but my timing is always so bad on actually actuating the pad that it is almost always off-beat. It would be nice to be able to quantize this.

(Please someone tell me there’s a way to quantize this )
