80s movies certainly make a fascinating snapshot of the ideology of the time, though i can’t say that most any of them have aged well.
If any elektron fans haven’t seen Liquid Sky, it feels like it invented Electroclash.

and here are two very convincing pictures about musicians, that I enjoyed during the recent years:
about Chet Baker:
and Florence Foster Jenkins (much better than the Meryl Streep Version)
These two are for those people who have an interest in history related stuff.
Waterloo is a movie shot on a scale that hasnt been seen sinve, or which will probably never be seen again. Shot largely in Russia, and with 10s of thousand extras supplied by the Russian military. This movies climatic battle helps to give a glimpse of what it must have been like to witness one of those Nepoleonic battles firsthand. A real feast for the eyes. My favorite scene re-enacts this painting, Scotland Forever!
Next one takes a little bit more of a sobering look at foreign affairs. Fog of War is a simple premise. An interview with former Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara. I come back to this one periodically to inspire my lectures about America’s history. So much emotion oozes out, and sticks with you.
Nice!
These two are what I’d consider cinematography works of art. Brillant sound tracks, and jaw dropping visuals. Watched Baraka on acid once, and it had suck a profound impact on my soul. Although you won’t need acid to be moved.
Koyaanisqatsi
Baraka
Before I forget, one of my favorite satires is of those classic Blaxplotaion, and action films from the 70s.
The very funny, and very over the top,
Black Dynamite.
Koyaanisqatsi live orchestra with projection screening is really worth hearing and witnessing. Went years ago.
Hanging out with my son and carrying his toy swords around sometimes makes me feel like Lone Wolf and Cub, minus all the assassins trying to end us.
Housu is one of my favorite horror films. I’m actually not a big horror film buff but I do love the psychedelic ones like that.
Saw this yesterday.
Man from Earth (2007)
High concept, low budget. The acting isn’t great, but the storyline is unforgettable, I think about this film often and recommend it at any opportunity I get. Brave the screenplay and let the plot consume you, you won’t regret it.
P.S. Never, ever, watch the follow up, MFA: Holocene
Have you seen Seven Samurais? 13 Assassins is more or less a modern remake of it.
A great classic
A fantastic animation movie from one of the greatest
The movie that made me realize how good of an actor Jim Carrey really is
Movie taste, like music taste, is so varied and personal that recommendations are basically pointless unless you know someone really well
Trailers = Spoilers
