Multi FX Boxes?

Given all the hype in the old 2016 Elektron Box thread for Multi-FX boxes, I got kinda juiced for one…

I’m wondering (spurred on by a thread in the marketplace)… anyone have any suggestions for other units on the market - either as stomp boxes, or as tabletops or rack-mounts? No cash limit or feature set, just looking for a spread of whats out their &or people’s preference…

Most of what I turn up is guitar-oriented, but are there ‘synth-specific’ FX units out there? Happy to hear about peeps fave guitar stomp boxes too

Have a look into the T-Resonator its an insane beast of a thing, not multi FX in the traditional sense just a little box of insanity.

On Line 6 M13 : I really like how they managed to approach e.g. Tape echo, I used to spend time on the knobs and fetch the alien spots on every FX ^^
You can have 4 FX in a row, with quick selection between 3 of them on each column… How you layer the FX is called scene and you can have 4x12 of them iirc…

Yeah that idea of being able to chain together a few is definitely key.

I think thats a downfall of the Mobius, you can only really select one effect at a time.

Just looking at a demo online re: m13… looks pretty flexible!

Whoa…The M9 looks more up more alley! Smaller form factor…

Well this thread couldn’t have come at a better time. Lookin for a xmas gift for myself.

So far I’ve narrowed it to:

Eventide H9
Pro: sound/MIDI
Con: only one algorithm at a time (though some offer multiple FX)/price

Zoom CDR70/100
Pro: price/options
Con: sound on the thin side / no MIDI

Vermona Retroverb

Pro: sound (for what it does)
Con: limited in FX

And MIDI! Nice. On List.

Think maybe the m9 allows less fx to be stacked simultaneously tho? Can’t remember for sure…

Looks like 3, whereas the M13 has 4. Not a bad trade off… think i’d would rather have this thing on the desk than on the floor.

Boss me 50 is a pretty cool multi-fx, in that it has tons of knobs and an exp pedal etc. No midi tho…

There’s a gap in the market for a killer multi-fx with nice UI and stackable fx. I thought I’d be happy with a line 6 Hd500. Very deep pedal for editing/routing options etc. But the sounds feel a little veiled/thin and I hated the UI. I’ve slowly ended up buying separate pedals and way happier now. Knob per function and infinitely better sound quality. Took me a long time to do it tho. Separate pedals is an expensive/space consuming path. And no presets for chains etc. Would love a company to make a really serious box with tons of fx consisting of analog and digital with tons of knobs. Elektron could have done this with the AH and put it out around £1000 and I’d have been interested for sure…

Yeah. I honestly had a vision of it the other night. Same size format as the usual boxes, but just a killer multi-fx box, multi- ins and outs, multi plockable tracks, stackable etc… i’d have paid normal elektron box price for a deep and rich feature set oh well not to be… who knows maybe one will come in future. but in the meantime…

FWIW i never really rated my Hd500 (same fx as m9/m12) to sound much better than the little zoom multi-fx that can be got super cheap. I never A > B’d them or used them in the same session/time period tho to get a clear comparison…

Yep, that would have been a killer addition to their product range. Maybe in future… but can’t help thinking that the more of these ‘focused’ units like AH that they make the less they’re going to want to pool features together in future boxes cos they’ll be worries about stealing sales etc…

The old Electrix filter, eq killer and mo-fx boxes are still very useable. Lots of knobs, great features like momentary switches and insert points, are all stereo, and the mo-fx has insert points. Built like concrete blocks too. Can’t think of anything else on the market like the Mo-FX.

Full disclosure: I’m currently selling a Mo-FX.

sweet! why the sell? sounds tasty!

Quite honestly, I’m in two minds as to selling it. Just got my sights set on some a Vermona gear. I might change my mind.
