One of the really cool things about the Elektron Synths is using multiple tracks with a different sound on each to make a layered patch. Synths like the Blofeld and Iridium do this too.
It’s easiest to see / use this one the Digitone.
T1 on its own
T1 & T2 playing together
T1, T2 and T3 playing together
All four Tracks making a single patch
However, there is no way of saving a multi-layer/track patch.
Currently I use the following workflow:
Create T1 Sound
Add T2 as a layer in the Voice menu
Create T2 Sound
Add T3 as a layer in the Voice menu
Create T3 Sound
Save T1 Sound as Multi XXXX 1
Save T2 Sound as Multi XXXX 2
Save T3 Sound as Multi XXXX 3
I will usually save the Project as Multi XXXX too.
If this is a 3 or 4 layer Sound, it’s not a big issue to save the while thing as a project for recall as it will likely use the whole synth, but if its just a 2 layer track, I can’t load it into a Project I’ve already developed. I have to load each Sound and rebuild the missing parts.
In some ways it’s easier for me to use my MPC Live to Multisample the patch for future use, but that freezes its parameters and removes the option to parameter lock.
So anyways, that’s what I’ve been thinking about. Super niche usecase I know.
