Vermona Perfourmer MKII and H9 Eventide pedal… my attempt at recreating Deadmau5’s “Strobe”. Enjoy
Do you think it is possible to get close to this sound with analog four / keys poly mode? I know it wont be exact but just seeing if I can replicate it in a similar way.
The short answer is yes… thanks to its flexibility around the sequencer.
As far as sound:
The A4 is awesome but my experience with it has shown me a limited sweetspot in terms of the sound but I’m sure there are much better programmers than me.
I like the Vermona due to its no nonsense immediacy.
Dont underestimate the power of the H9 pedal which is what really brings out the harmonics… Eventide H9 is the best purchase I have made.
Ive been trying for a few hours with the a4 to get somewhere close but to my ears cant get near it. Im only using onboard effects though. The a4 seems to me to have a more brassy tone, with a bit of abrasiveness which is hard to filter out. Im no synthesis a4 expert though, just fiddling around.
Like i said, I am no A4 programming expert but… the Vermona sound is second to none.
Oh wow. You’ve coaxed some extremely luscious sounds and tones out of this sturdy beast!
Wanted one of these for quite a while. Had a DRM-1 mkII for a while. The build quality and design of the Vermonas are fantastic. I wanted to put the Perfourmer above the DRM in a desktop rack. Maybe one day.
I know it feels pricey but once you start messing with the modes, it really feels like a lot of bang for your buck… four vco’s, four filters, four outputs/inserts, four lfos, six playmodes, every possible midi channel permutation… same price as an A4.
Oh man… so much fun…
Please stop…please dont stop
You know youre going to end up getting one right?
Haha yep. Its purely a money spend fight in my head right now.
Yeah, this is officially back on my wish-list now.
You thinking of picking up a Digitakt to sequence the Perfourmer?
Nope no DT for me - I love my OT and waiting to try the Cirklon later this yr.
Also not excited about the DT if im honest… personally taste, am sure its a great little box but prefer the rectangular legacy units
Do you have the cv version? Worth getting if it can be sequenced with OT?
Yes CV version… but not been used yet. A4?? ehm…
You will need 2 a4s to sequence 4 mono tracks I think, but not sure.
