First post here so be kind
Setup is fairly simple = Digitakt (sends midi clock to) Octatrack (sends midi out to) Blofeld
This works perfectly fine except for midi live recording.
I’d love to live midi record from the Blofeld either into the Digitakt or Octatrack but can’t find a way, without sacrificing the midi clock send.
I’m guessing I need a midi out cable from the Blofeld into either Elektron device? The midi in from the Octatrack is already occupied (see attachment).
- tried sending midi clock via midi through, doesn’t work, maybe I’m doing something wrong here?
- do I need some kind of midi splitter to do this? If so, could you recommend one?
^ hope this makes sense,
Thanks in advance for the kind help
Hi and welcome!
I guess your Blofeld is the keyboard version…
Try this :
Blo Out > OT In
OT out > DT In
DT Thru > Blo In
Midi Thru sends what is received in Midi In. So going through the DT you keep OT clock and notes for the Blo. You should be able to record in OT and DT (with right channels set for OT midi tracks).

Next step will be record in DT.
If you use OT autochannel, you have to be in Midi mode to send Blo midi messages to DT.
If you use corresponding channels you should be able to send them to DT even in audio tracks mode, according to @Open_Mike.
I didn’t try, so if it doesn’t work, it’s his fault.
Edit : in that case, midi tracks channels must be different from audio tracks channels (Project > Midi > Channels to set audio tracks, midi tracks channels are set in midi mode only).
