Next update due

hoping there’s a new update on the way real soon… c’mon elektron, get it together  expectations abound

I just thought about the same. Its been awhile since the last update.

Yes we need the poly option and we are stuck on 4 bars, i hope in the next update you can at least do 8 bars like on the ot with 1/2 speed patterns.

Jon teased that a new update was on the way in the thread about videos, but then went all shy about when :joy:

All I can say is that it better have a Pony Filter in it this time or I shall scream and stamp my feet.

Not sure if I’m missing something here but can’t you do this already?

yes… maybe he meant for each track independently? afaik the OT has independent clock dividers per track, A4 has only a clock divider per pattern…
anyway here’s a workaround for long patterns using the arp:

Yes, having individual clock dividers would be crucial to me for the next update. Everything else would be a welcome bonus.

just wanted to raise my hand and say i dont care about poly

Yes exactly. I read about the workaround. Interesting! Going to experiment with this soon

Id dig if the knob behavior for modulation destination was changed. Maybe press the knob to exit or use the knobs positioned on either extreme? I still choose the wrong knob from time to time.
key tracking as a mod source
Source tracks with transposition for all tracks, not just CV would be how id like to see poly done, don’t really care about a traditional poly mode.

Divisions per track
Poly
P lockable arp settings

I was using the arp for a workaround too for long patterns too though it does become a faf its a nice trick. I never seen the demo though so maybe there’s a tidier way.

Polly would open this machine up to a whole new audience though that don’t want work arounds just in time to justify the price hike.

Proper midi out and external sequencing tracks would be the bomb as well as allowing different clock/time sig per track…would sacrifice poly and half my manhood for that:)

That and “Whoops, we found a few extra MBytes of onboard storage for kits and patterns.”
Another thing that would be cool would be to change pattern of tracks individually instead of just all of the at the same time.

yeah about changing individual tracks, it kinda works, in a limited fashion, by using the arp with infinite note length… see the workaround posted above ^

Yeah, that sort of works but I am thinking about changing it more drastically. For instance: A lot of songs I make have a bass-line that gets repeated a lot and changes by different blocks of the song, so to speak, while melody lines change more often. As it works now I copy it to different patterns while changing the other tracks.
What I would like to see is “sub-tracks” for each pattern.
This could work like press and hold the track button and while holding it you can change the pattern for that track with the trig-buttons so you have 16 sub-patterns per track on each regular pattern that you can program separately from each other. This is just an idea I have been thinking about for this.
This might be overly tricky to use just for small variations as those are easier to make with trig-mutes but could be nice to have when you want larger changes.

Me either. If it had poly, I would basically need to buy another A4.

Freely tunable sub oscillator would be much more important for me.

Same here, poly mode would be less flexible than having the same sound on 4 tracks and sequencing them individually, so I really don’t see the point. Maybe for external sequencing allow the tracks to be set to the same midi channel and have note allocation instead, but again not bothered by lack of it.

i’m not much bothered either, especially as there are external workarounds - but having a similar patch on four voices with clever voice allocation is much more exciting than can be done on yer regular poly analog synths - I see the joy of that as being divorced from the Elektron way to sequence - i’d hate it if they stole voices to duplicate any given sound being poly’ed
good to have, not bothered too tbh
but on the sub osc, isn’t that a limitation of what they can achieve (in terms of physics) by stealing a sub osc from the main Osc, i may be wrong, it may explain why sub voice is a fixed level too, something i’d rather see a bit of control over … i suspect the sub osc level may be fixed because there are no spaces left on the parameter pages, if that’s so Elektron, if you’re reading, then you could extend the parameter value options thus
Off , -1 Oct, -2 Oct, -2 Oct narrow, ‘5th’ then add -1 Oct (half vol), -2 Oct(half vol), -2 Oct narrow(half vol), ‘5th’(half vol) or something like that ! - no presets affected !
My update xmas wish list : I’d be happy if it didn’t hang every time I unplugged a USB midi session to it !! Just that

I think Elektron would do a new synth before they give us poly on the A4.

I hope for improved note slide behavior and an envelope follower.
