Hi everybody.
I was messing with some recorded stuff from AR mkii and noticed a ground noise in hi hat track. First I thought on my sound card (I use motu 828 mk3), but when I pluged headphones to drum machine (main or HP) and turned the volume up things became clear to me.
So is it normal? Or it’s my case?
PS. I found that turning down MIX button in COMP page reduces the noise (usually I set MIX knob at around 64-70), but when you compensate by MAKE UP the noise comes back.(
If you use separate outs it seems that you have no noise, but then you lose analog compressor…
I understand this is due to “analog” compressor kind of thing but this was the first time it became a problem while mixing!
Maybe someone has any thoughts on this?
compressors are noisy, it is what it is, they raise the output level, and that includes the noise floor.
A good way to minimize noise in the AR is to check the amp page for each sound and make sure they do not last forever unless it’s desired

Yes, thank you. But noise is still there if you turn decay down or if the playback is already stopped.)
This is a bit of regret for me (although I’m in big love with the device) because I really like the way compressor works and I used to record voices separately several times through the main outs. Have smth to change in my workflow)
