Noob question (Heat + Ableton)

Ok… I picked up a 2nd hand Heat and it seems to route a little differently than I had expected. I want to use it kind of like a channel strip on the way into the DAW, connecting an old synth directly to the inputs and then recording as audio within Ableton.

The Heat Overbridge plugin seems to only open as an audio effect in Ableton. Alternatively I can set the USB mode of the unit to function as an audio interface… but what I’m confused about is that I can’t seem to utilise an Overbridge control panel when used in this way. I’d love to be able to tweak all my settings on screen within the DAW when tracking in, rather than turning the knobs on the unit itself. Is this not possible…?

Apologies for struggling with something so basic, but hoping someone can take a moment to school me on this.

Thanks!!
