Title says it all… when im sequencing the xs, the midi notes tend to get stuck when i stop the octatrack, both when its clocked by other sequencers and when its running by its self. This does not happen on my micromonsta when i send it the same midi data… is this common octatrack behavior? Stuck notes never happen on th3 xs when sequenced by my social entropy engine and i was hoping to sell it and use octa instead to save space and avoid too much gear etc… Any suggestions what could be wrong?
My FRXS got stuck with the OT as welll all the time. Really annoying. My solution was to sell the XS…
Hahaha! Hmmmm… oh well. I made this thread as stuck notes are not something that octatrack is known for dealing with, at least according to google… So i made this thread. The xs is however a super handy synthesizer, and is fine with engine… Thx for the reply!
Is any way to avoid this though? It does seem to happen when i press stop when the midi note is on. Its very annoying to turn the xs on and off every time i stop the sequencer at the wrong moment and its a fantastic instrument.
Try turning off CLOCK SEND and/or TRANSPORT SEND from the OT MIDI settings page (Project Menu)
Good luck!
The XS is one killer synth.
Hello Adam!
Turns out that the transport send is causing the note latching… Better tbe transport send than the clock, but id love this issue to go away. Any other suggestions, since we now know that the transport send causes the notes to latch, other than turning the feature off?
Maybe the Xs is too sensible when it receives too much midi data…
There are midi processors to filter any unwanted midi messages.
Latching may be a missed note off (Note one with Velocity =0) information.
Probably.
Nord Drum 2 is similar. Doesn’t like MIDI clock coming in. It doesn’t need it, and it sure fusses things up when it receives it.
So, is there an affordable solution? The miditech thru box seems pretty handy but im new to the midi environment. Is that box what I need? A spare thru box sure would be handy anyway…
Are you needing to send transport to other devices from OT?
Is there anything wrong with the solution of turning off “SEND TRANSPORT” ?
Can any of your other devices serve as master clock/transport?
I was hoping to make my octatrack my center/master, so having latched notes on the xs is not ideal since I need tje transport messages to control my other gear.
I did it with
Midi Solution Event Processor Plus, I really recommend for different purposes
Yamaha MEP4+, 1u rack, big
It may be possible with Midipal, never tried.
