Octatrack MK2 Midi Clock Sync with Synth

Hi,

So I have an Octatrack MK2 + a Pioneer TORAIZ AS1. I simply just want to sync the Pioneer BPM with the Octatrack BPM, but I can’t find any answers online for only this. I don’t want to send midi notes out to the synth, only for it to sync up with the BPM.

Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks!

Func+midi to open midi options. Then you can set different options (send, receive, etc.)

I’ve set it to send the clock but it isn’t working…I’ve put the Midi cable in OT out into the Pioneer Midi in - is that correct?

In the AS-1 “Global options” menu scroll to 6: Midi Clock Mode and select either “Slave no SS” or “Slave”.

In “Slave no SS” mode the AS-1 sequencer will need to be manually started but will be synced to the OT clock, in “Slave” mode it’ll respond to the OT’s start-stop commands

Cool so I’ve done that and set my OT to send Midi Clock but it still seems to not be working…

Connect MIDI Out of OT to MIDI In of AS-1 using a working MIDI cable.

In the OT’s PROJECT > MIDI > SYNC menu, activate TRANSPORT SEND and CLOCK SEND.

On the AS-1, I assume that you’re using the sequencer, not the arpeggiator.
In the GLOBAL SETTING menu:

  • set MIDI Clock Mode to “Slave”,
  • set MIDI Clock Cable to “MIDI Port”.

Make your sequence in the AS-1’s SEQUENCER.

If this doesn’t work then you need to start troubleshooting:

  • can you send Note messages from the OT’s MIDI sequencer tracks to the AS-1?
  • do you have other MIDI gear?
