Octatrack noob question

Hi all,

I just started with the octatrack. I have got digitakt as well. With the digitakt you can resample a track by recording internal. Once you done then you can easily assign it to the current track. What is a quick workflow on the octatrack for that?

Not to sound like a dick, but:
Read the manual first.
You won’t get around that.

Assign a recorder track to a Flex track. Assign that recorder track to record the other track you want to sample.

There is no “fastest” way, there is only the way in the manual.

There are no shortcuts. There is only the way it works.

All track recorders are available to record any source at any time, regardless of what any of the audio or midi tracks are doing.

So choose a track recorder, select the recording source, and record.

Then you’ll need a flex machine to play back the recorded sample. Or, if you know your cheddar, you saved the sample to the flashcard, and can use a static machine to play the sample.

Its all in the manual, as mentioned above.

Easy.

First off, i always like to post in Octatrack Noob posts. because i am, coming up on two years with it and still feel like a babe in the woods, although they are woods i know my way around in… sort of…

Heres whats up…
DT running into inputs C D > Thru machine on track 5 set up to process the incoming audio.
DN running into inputs A B > Thru machine on Track 1 set up to process the incoming audio.
Trigs set on each track to trigger the amp envelope
Alls well, but when i mute track 5, i can still hear the DT as its playing a sequenced pattern. I can still hear the DN when i play it manually as i have no pattern sequenced for it, even if Track 1 is muted.
If i turn down the Master volume on either the DT or the DN, sound for the respective instruments drops out…

im wondering if i fucked up some sort of MIDI connection or something?
Midi routing is as follows: OT midi OUT >DN Midi IN > Dn Midi OUT> Typhon Midi IN. DN Midi THRU> DT

DT and DN are set to recieve clock and transp from OT on channel 16
Typhon recieves Midi from DN on channel 5…

this used to work great and now, here i am, scratching my head about it.
BUT! i might have forgotten something or changed something up and not remembered it…
Just super weird to me that i can mute the Thru tracks and still hear the instruments.
OT Main out run in to a Mix8 mixer, but i have headphones plugged into the OT headphone jack…
EDIT 2 I just realized that this was NOT the OT noob thread i intended to post in … but ahh well. lets go with it.

Got that sorted out.
MIX page. I had my DIR Turned up .
what a Noob.
I swear… … … i had a real creative slump, you know? didnt touch the machines… and coming back has been a bit rough. muscle memory is there, but forgetting steps like this is real common place.
glad to be back on the bicycle, even if the roads a bit rough at first.
