So. Could someone try to explain the different weirdnesses of SAVE PROJECT in OT.
If I have a good version save project is not ideal, because the machine will auto-overwrite this yes?
Any light on this would be much appreciated!

No, autosave is not the same as save project. This way you can save your project, mess it up, then reload project to restore it. Autosave writes to a different file than save project, so if you make changes that you like save them - if you want to overwrite the current saved project, or “save as” to save as a different project.
