Hi, I know this gets discussed occasionally, but somehow, despite that, it’s hard to find conclusive information.
I do not write in loops, so my interest in the OT as a ‘backing track’ is a little different than the other backing track threads because my songs cannot be broken down into small loops (well, they could I guess, but breaking down each song into 100s of bars of different samples over 7 stereo tracks per song seems extraordinarily tedious - someone should write a program that can handle that seamlessly for the OT!)
What I’m hoping to accomplish:
-Split up my already completed songs into 7 stereo files with lengths up to 10 minutes (the 8th track of the OT is reserved for Master).
-Trigger all 7 stereo tracks simultaneously (I guess I’d have to do this with the arranger?)
-manipulate the 7 stereo tracks and the 8th master tracks effects on the fly.
-have the arranger feed seamlessly into the next track, triggering 7 stereo files simultaneously, etc.
Essentially, my performance of these songs will just be effect manipulation.
Will this work?
If so, how well will the OT handle things like beat-repeat effects if it is only triggering one-shot samples. Technically ,the BPMs will be matched based on the arrangement so it should be okay, i think, but I feel something might go wrong here?
I appreciate any insight into this.
I haven’t purchased an OT yet, but this is the main thing I’ll be using the OT for (at first).
You can trigger all 7 stereo tracks for each song in one pattern using one-shot triggers in each track.
When you want to move to the next song, you just select the next pattern. Or you could use the arranger.

I haven’t used the beat repeat stuff or arranger yet but i think OP will need to use arranger, not patterns, if he wants to have effects sync to bpm (different for each song)? As far as I know arranger is the only way you can switch bpm neatly in a project, I could be wrong though.
