+1 for independent pattern tempos
[ul]
[li]quantized mutes that optionally do not mute the audio but the playing notes (as the MD does it)[/li]
[li]âplays freeâ tracks that optionally do not stop when switching the pattern[/li]
[li]being able to set rate higher instead of only lower[/li]
[li]filter-distortion should be plockable, lfo-able[/li]
[li]basic master effects always available (Eq, Compressor, Delay, Distortion)[/li]
[li]some polyphony per track (actually duo phonic would be enough for most cases)[/li]

Naming Midi tracks.
Ability to chain patterns in different banks (For improvs)
Both FX block should have the same effects.
A performance page like the a4.
Seconded.
Also, if the problem with the effects blocks are that the OT simply canât handle 16 reverbs, then allow us to order it however we want and then on the one that doesnât have the reverb, grey it out. So it still is one reverb per track but it is much less limited than having to use neighbor machines to accomplish this
cool, a Performance Page would be a lot o fun.
my request relates to one-shot sequencing on the OT.
if doubling the scale speed of a pattern, it would be nice to then have the OT re-map any currently sequenced notes so they play the same way, even though the scale speed is doubled.
i understand this would require doubling the length/placement of each note in the sequence, and therefore if the pattern was already more than 2 bars in length, some notes would be off the length of the 4 bars. maybe the user could be given the option to set what bar and beat the note sequence re-mapping âstartsâ from.
it would just be really cool to be able to jump easily from 16th note sequencing precision to 32nd note sequencing precision.
come to think of it, maybe i should just create a âtemplate projectâ, and double the scale speed for all patterns so 32nd precision is already there, without thinking about it. Then just use that for new projects.
one more request from me and thatâs my quota for the year:
please could we record the velocity and note-length of incoming MIDI signals to the audio section of the Octatrack, if that is achievable and not too complex a task for the payoff.
it would mean that people who like using the OT as a one-shot sampler sequencer triggered by a rhythm pad or keyboard, could then automatically have 300 percent more expressivity captured in their OT track pattern loops.
Isnât this what âSave to newâ does?
+1 for a Master machine!!
A midi channel dispatcher for chromatic trig inputs and the possibility to have multiple active tracks running chromatic trig mode simultaneously would be great, this would allow easy polyphony and a great deal of other options to give the OT keyboard functions over a two octave range.
I want play ala mlr in slice mode
Have to say, where are the P-Locks on the second page?
The thing OT most desperately needs is a complete rewrite of the FX algorhithms (possibly excluding the filter and the dark reverb). A modern device like the OT surely has enough computing power to have better FX than, say, my Zoom 1201 (a 90âs multieffect unit which cost like 150$/⏠when it was new), so it canât be that. Itâs just lazy programming, or the lack of a dedicated FX specialist.
âŚand the timestretch engine.
For me this machine needs only two things:
- polyphony (sample layered)
- audio velocity
Third effect would be welcome also.
REALLY I am waiting for it!
It is possible?
Does somebody know?
Some informations from Elektron team?
I would not expect any sort of third effect that has a high resource demand unless they upgrade the hardware.
As it is now, you canât even have two resource intensive effects (you have to use a neighbor track) much less adding a third effect on one track.
The only things iâm missing in OT are: 1) immediate pattern switching mode, like A4 has; 2) ability to loop pattern section; 3) ability to rotate pattern section within 2 trigs being held
I believe you can immediate pattern switch, I would need to check the manual since I generally donât do that but I thought I recalled reading it (and even doing it by accident early on)

Immediate pattern switch, keeping the same position in the sequence would be incredibly useful. Kind of like âLegatoâ mode in Ableton Live.
Yeah, this
This is a request based on some tech support correspondence:
Add a ânext patternâ and âprevious patternâ command to the MIDI spec. Then you can change patterns on the fly with your feet without having to program the exact bank and pattern.
On the sound quality of the fx: I think people are so used to presets now that they may not realize the possibility of whatâs there. We might try an âfx cookbookâ thread where we talk about useful settings.
Iâve had some surprising success with the phaser, for instance (granted it doesnât have a huge sweet spot). The filter I quite like, as well as the comb filter, and while I wish for more vibe on the delay, it works very well.
