Pattern Chaining with Dark Trinity.. haaaalp

Hi 'nauts -

Having a ponderous issue when doing pattern chains with my dark trinity -

I have my OT as the master -

OT [Midi Out] > RYTM [Midi Out] > AKeys

The problem I am having is that when I have a pattern chain (press pattern and then two pattern buttons), the third device in the chain (Analog Keys) isn’t properly changing patterns, it seems to lag behind by a measure.

I have check all my midi settings and they seem fine, but for whatever reason, the third device in the chain doesn’t switch patterns at the right time. It does eventually, but lags by a measure.

Oddly, if I connect the Analog Keys to the RYTM’s ‘Thru’, the patterns change properly. It seems like some sort of problem is being introduced in the chain.

Has anyone encountered any issues like this? Driving me nuts!

Thanks a bunch -

Hi roljui,
if i recall correctly this is the way a “midi daisy chain” works.
MIDI Master - MIDI OUT -> MIDI Slave 1 - MIDI IN - MIDI Slave 1 - Midi THRU -> MIDI Slave 2 - MIDI IN etc.
You can use a Midi Thru device with 1 midi in 4 midi out to connect like you mentioned, but in the end it is just the same midi data on the outs ,
like midi thru

I do not know why you can not use the second midi out, maybe because of the second midi clock?

As AriHaf mentioned above, the AR’s MIDI Thru port simply replicates the MIDI signal from the OT.

There is apparently sufficient delay in the AR processing the signal from the OT before sending it from its MIDI Out port.

You should connect the AR’s MIDI Thru to the AK’s MIDI In unless you have very specialised needs.

Damn - ok well that makes sense - I would have thought I could simply daisy chain them but I could also use the AR’s Thru. I was sometimes using the OT as the master for all 3, and sometimes using the AR as the master for the AK, but I guess I should just stick with one scenario. Thanks guys!
