Piezo/contact microphone suggestions

I am interested in picking up a contact mic for a bit different flavor for sampling. I’m not sure where to start. Anyone have any recommendations? I apologize as I feel this topic was covered somewhere on the forum but I could not locate the thread where folks were discussing them.

Crank Sturgeon makes all kinds of contact mics. Perfect circuit sells em.

Thank you. I’ll look into it now. Have you used any of their mics?

I once picked up a piezo component at the store and soldered two wires and a 3.5mm plug to it. Into a preamp it went – worked, still works.

Just looked around some online stores, didn’t know there was such a variety to contact mics.

Korg makes a little clip-on mic. Convenient and decent quality.

No directly what the OP asked for but LOM make some interesting mics.

Thank you. I will check this out. I looked up the Crank Sturgeon stuff and they look super handy and I liked the overall vibe of this company (not sure if it’s an actual company or just a person) but I’ll check out Lom as well. Maybe buy something from both. Crank Sturgeon stuff is very affordable.

I’ve had lots of fun with the Koma Elektronik Field Kit. Really inspiring piece of gear.

This looks pretty fun although after reading the description I’m actually more confused about what it does . I’ll do a deep dive of YT videos to get a better sense of it. In the meantime I ordered a couple of mics from Crank Sturgeon. For the price, it seemed like a no brainer.

I’ve used K & K pickups for years on my acoustic instruments. Great quality and sound.

No I haven’t. I have a Koma Elektronics contact mic but the Crank Sturgeon ones look way more durable. Sound quality is definitely “lo-fi”.
