Preferred Naming Convention for Sounds

Hey there:

I’ve been making sounds for a new AR sound pack and, before I get too far, I’d like to know the following:
What’s the best way to name the sounds?

For the A4 sound pack, I could be more liberal, but I think AR users will want to know exactly what the sound is for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which being on what pad they can place the sound.

Logically: SOUND-TYPE_TITLE

Of course, tags are great, but I assume most people prefer to search by sound-type (CH, OH, CY, etc.)

What do you think?

Well, I decided to go for the “PADNAME (BD, SD, etc) SOUNDNAME SOUNDTYPE” format.
That is:
PADNAME - one of the pads (sound slots) that allows the sound to function as intended)
SOUNDNAME - the title of the sound
SOUNDTYPE - I add “SYN” to indicate that a sound can be used (or best used?) as a synthesizer-type sound, if applicable

So, a question of organization:
Do you prefer groups of similar sounds or does it even matter?

For instance, in the sound manager, I might have two or three BDs in a row, followed by a SD, OH, and whatever. I figure, a user doesn’t want to scroll through 68 BDs to get to the SD section.

Thoughts are appreciated.

I use tags a lot. I try to organise banks so that Lem’s presets is on letter L.
Otherwise I have no naming convention… I just try to express Howard thé soundcloud réels, th en Irak sticks.

It’s good to know that some people are using tags.
The AR is kinda smart, anyway: in the sound browser, it will only show sounds appropriate for that specific pad (or group of pads). So, my naming convention of “PADNAME SOUNDNAME SOUNDTYPE” is probably even a little too much. I can just go with “SOUNDTYPE (BD, SYN, CH, OH) SOUNDNAME.”
