Receive midi clock bpm changes

I dont have much experience with midi syncing equipment but I decided one day to receive midi clock on the A4 from a DSI Poly Evolver. When I opened up the bpm menu on the A4, I saw the the BPM tempo changing in live time, in small increments, while playing the sequences. It was supposed to be BPM 114 but would quickly jump around to different numbers ranging from 114 to 114.6. Is this type of behavior normal or is my Evolver sending crappy midi clock? thanks

Sadly one of the limitations in MIDI clock I think, you will get some drifting
Just tried the same with my OT and A4 and I occasionally get drifting of +/- 0.3 BPM. Generally the Elektron gear is known to be a good sync, and I guess the DSI less so.

The only real solution to this is to use a dedicated sync box like the ones made by innerclock, but they’re pricey… The issue is being discussed on this thread, Which elektron is the better master clock?

check the link to a very technical article made by innerclock that may shed some light for you

This is common, although I can’t explain in great detail why. Isn’t it good to know that at least the elektrons are detecting the drift? I’ve never really noticed any sufficient drift though. Usually just small readings back and forth in small values.

Good info. Thank you!
