Recording into Ableton

I’m new to hardware and I’ve just decided to take the plunge with mk1 prices being so low. So I’ve bought myself an A4 and a RYTM and I’m saving up to get an Octatrack.

I’m wondering how they all to pair together to record into Ableton. Do I need overbridge and a USB hub to take in the A4 and the RYTM?

I have a focusrite scarlette 2i2 so would I need to take the headphone out and plug into the 2i2s inputs? or do the left and right outputs mean that only one machine can occupy the 2i2.

Or would I need a mixer first then connect that to the audio interface?

Whatever the solution is I would like to plan for the future and consider how the octatrack would fit into the set up.

Cheers

Ok your options are something like this.
A) get a hub and use overbridge (though octatrack doesnt work with overbridge)
B) get a mixer. Then run a stereo signal through your 2i2
C) use octatrack as a mixer.
D) get an interface with more inputs on it (some mixers have USB interface built in, you could go that path too.)

Or… just run a stereo signal from one machine one at a time into your 2i2 to your DAW and over dub everything.

Personally, if I were in your position, I would choose option D. Interface with more inputs. But then, I’m not interested in overbridge.

Hope that helps.
