I’m looking for either a pedal or VST plugin that has similar characteristics as the Analog 4’s Supervoid reverb. I recently got an A4 and I’m not loving it so I’ll probably return it. But one thing I absolutely love is that reverb. Anything I put through it sounds great.
Any suggestions? I could do a stomp box or a VST plugin, but no room for racks. I would like to keep it at $300 US or less.
Reverbs springing to mind (no pun intended) are the Valhalla set of plugins which are excellent and in pedal format maybe checkout Eventide Space but I think it’s more than $300.
+1 for Eventide Space.
It’s a beast.
12 Different Reverb algorithms
Usual suspects like Hall, Room, Plate, Spring
but also some funkier out there FX like Blackhole and MangledVerb
Ten knobs for hands on twiddling.
Midi Control of parameters
Amp/Line level switches for both Inputs and Outputs
BPM detector
Sounds great.
Built like a tank.
I like the Space and the Big Sky but those are out of my price range.
The only external FX I’m considering are the three mentioned above - the BlueSky, Cathedral, and TC HOF. I am also looking into the NeunaberWet,butI can’t really try one out locally, so it’s probably low on my list for now.
I’ve heard good things about Valhalla plugs, so those might be worth a look. I believe they offer demo versions so the risk factor is low.
Does anyone have experience with the Cathedral, BlueSky, or HOF who has an A4 and can comment on the ability of those boxes to approximate the A4’s reverb sound?
Audio Damage Eos (algorithm designed by Valhalla) is also great for huge verbs.
On the pedal side I went with the Wet. I love it. Strymon stuff always intrigues me but in the end the wet signal always feels strangely separate from the dry.
I think Neunaber offers a money back return. Plus with the pedal customizer software you can turn it into any other pedal he offers.
I will check it out against the A4 verb tomorrow and report back.
The only reverb plugins I own outside of a DAW are Rob Papen’s RPVerb (so much deelishus modulation…) and Audio Damage’s Eos (almost a no-brainer at $50, also the Valhalla stuff is about that, too).
Audio Damage Eos. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to reverb wash every mutha f***a in the room… accept no substitutes.
Aether is pretty awesome, too, and I’d probably buy it if I was fully ITB.
My gut tells me you need something like the Space or BigSky, just based on the name Supervoid, but I have no personal experience with the A4.
I have a Cathedral, its a great reverb, really versatile. It can get muddy quite quickly, which is cool if you want to make a big wash but not so good if you want realistic impulse response style reverbs
