Ripping my old CD-R

There are videoes i can watch, but here i thought id get advice i can trust.

I made an EP of music in 2008. I gave it away to my friends on CD-R. As far as i know, there are now 2 surviving copies, id like to save it, and also see if i can try a little «remastering» as i had no idea what i was doing at the time.

Assuming the CD-R still can be made to work:

Best quality rip?

Or…anybody try something like recording the actual audio into a daw through the interface? Is that a thing?

The standard for CD printing is 44.1 KHz/16 bit, these figures may be different since you burned the CD’s yourself. I would first import them into your computer, check the file info to see your bitrate and depth, then bring them into your DAW for remixing.

Thank you! Importing them might involve actually ripping the CD, yes? Do you have a preferred software?

Exact Audio Copy is one i’ve used in the past it’s free but takes a bit to set up. It yields much better results than the standard media player rip. Only on windows unfortunately

Im on win so thats a thing to try. Cheers!
