Routing the machines back into themselves (via a pedal)

I work with the MD and MM + 2 Strymon pedals, all through a little Mackie 802.

I might not be able to fit the mixer in my luggage when moving overseas in a few months, so I wondered if anyone had any experience using pedals without a mixer, such as going out of the output and back into the input with a pedal on the way?

I could try this but might save a bit of time and wire tangles if people had tried something similar themselves that they would care to share.

Just tried it…

OUCH, feedback!

Should have known 0_0

Routing the MM into the MD and vice versa, via a pedal per machine seems the best no-mixer + pedals option, though you obviously lose a track on the MM.

Case closed (I think)

You should be able to route machines through individual outputs to pedals and back into the audio inputs if you use appropriate routing.

Obviously, routing the main outputs to pedals and back in will cause problems.

Cheers Peter.

I tried routing C/D outputs of the Mono into the inputs via a reverb pedal, which caused the ear-bleeding screech (via my headphones plugged into the MM).

Perhaps I could revisit this configuration and see what might have gone wrong.

Clearly, you should make sure that the signal coming back from the reverb pedal to the MM inputs doesn’t get sent to the C&D outputs.
