RS3 <.> CP4 not triggering

Sorry for a noob question, but I just started creating my first beat on the Analog Rytm (I have a Analog Four so I’m pretty fluent with the elektron workflow), however for some reason, the RS3 / CP4 won’t trigger. Really strange; they make a sound when playing the pads, but no matter how many trigs I put into the sequencer, for these two tracks they just won’t trigger anything… since this is my first time just noodling with the Rytm, I haven’t touched the sample side of things, I’m just using the synth engines. I checked the Trig menu; the synth engine is set to trigger; the whole Trig menu is fine (velocity is on etc. etc.)… what could be wrong?

edit: just to clarify, the problem I have is that the the RS3/CP4 tracks won’t react to any trigs I put into the sequencer, so there must be some setting somewhere that is wrong for these … augh, i’m totally stumped

I just noticed that in the Mute screen, these two pads are a “darker” green than the other pads. I just tried the factory sounds and the pads aren’t triggering there as well… my kid was playing with this earlier and pressed every button he could get his little hands on, so something must have happened… investigating more

Found it! Seems my kid had somehow managed to create a song with “Programmed mutes” (p.46 in the manual). I cleared the song and everything is back to normal

That happends when holding the Chain button while in mute mode. Active song mutes are also indicated by dimmed song and chain LED.

Btw this is a nice feature to prepare the mutes and let them change in the next cycle of the pattern and be able to leave mute mode to concurrently perform changes to the sound. Song mutes work that way.
