Rytm and Midi

Hey guys. So, I’m admittedly not gelling well with this recently acquired MPC1k and am considering going the way of the Elektron Analog Rytm. Loving the sound of it, and I’ve owned an A4 and OT in the past, and I just really liked interacting with them. (Sold them both to quench my modular thirst though.)
Anyhow, there are still a few things I’m a bit hazy on concerning the AR though. For example…

  1. Can you “play” a tracks sound chromatically via Midi while not in Chromatic Mode but instead in Performance or Scene Mode?
  2. Can you play multiple tracks chromatically via different Midi channels?
  3. Can you trigger all of the drum hits via Midi at the same time as “playing” one of the tracks chromatically (also via Midi)?
  4. Can you trigger different slices of a track’s sample via Midi (notes or CC)? I have so many great sample chains I’d like to use somehow! And if so, can you do this AND simultaneously play a different track (chromatically)?
Any help is much appreciated as I’ve had little luck finding answers via the Search feature. Thanks! :joy:
  1. yes, if you set a track to a particular midi channel you can play it externally, chromatically, no matter what mode you are in.

  2. yes, except for the tracks that are binded together.

  3. not %100 sure, but I think you can.

  4. Sort of. You cant really “trigger” slices, more like select slices using knobs, CC, or Scenes/Perf modes, then trigger the pad.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Juan! Definitely helps.
Pretty happy with all of those answers right now. I think one of the only other things I wish it had was a way to tap into that reverb and delay for external audio signals.

You can set up the velocity mod matrix to offset sample position with diff velocities.

Thanks, tsutek! Sounds promising for the setup I’m going to be (hopefully) working with.
