For sample editing, I recall it being pretty necessary?
A bit of mucking around to get MkI working on older OSX’s; but it is doable. Hit me up if you need assistance / some links to read.
Isn’t it an Intel Atom?
That certainly points up an advantage to a stand-alone — less mucking.
I’m just quoting from the CDM article.
Think they got it wrong. I’d prefer it WAS ARM, though.
I don’t think Peter says so plainly, but he seems to base his belief in an ARM CPU on talks with whoever his contact(s) might be at Native Instruments.
If he is wrong then that’s his problem and I’m sure he’ll take care of it.

2.8.1 is the most recent i can find on the akai site… hmmmm.
Sorry, i was wrong, just checked it out
im curious to know if theres any type of discount if you’re a k12 user already since this seems to come with k13.
if not im basically throwing money away i spent paying for k12.
should we expect a mid tier machine+ to compete with the mpc one?
It doesn’t really come with k-13
No absynth, Kontakt, full reaktor, guitar rig, or massive x.
The Maschine+ features an “Atom” chip. Same as in the PC Mini’s many years ago that were very underpowered. The new Maschine most likely has its own “OS”. According to their spec comparison sheet to the MK3 it does not support VST’s or NKS. I imagine the Plugins it does support as well as Sampled sounds are developed specifically for the Plus. Time will tell where it all goes. They do say it will export to DAW’s and Maschine on Mac/PC for additional work.
If you’re commiserating with me, I appreciate that. But please tell me you’re not taking a sarcastic shot at me in the midst of this global pandemic. Music puts the roof over my head and the food on my table—it’s my only source of income, and the only job I’ve ever had—and yes, things are tight right now. The entire industry imploded in a day, 6 months ago, very much to the detriment of myself and a lot of my colleagues. There have been some dark days for all of us since then, but we’re doing our best to cope and get through this. Thanks.
Cheers!
This guy says the beta unit that he got is fast and responsive. Atom vs. ARM won’t matter if it boots fast and doesn’t crawl like a snail under a typical workload - well i guess it only matters to a minority of peeps. I’ve heard there are other popular synths/gear running on Raspberry Pi, Atom, etc. that nerds would frown upon - but nerd rage over CPU has been minimal because aside from maybe Korg Wavestate and Kronos, exact CPU used on those other products is widely known.
Granted I’ve no idea what each person would consider a typical workload.
He does have gripes/complaints as well so it’s not the paid cheerleader job
I can’t wait to check this out governor, thanks! I was the first preorder yesterday at sweetwater and can barely contain myself. I’ve just been a bit concerned about how many plugins or audio loops, etc you can run fully standalone.
All I’m really hoping for is 3 polyphonic plugins a set, 1-2 multisample instruments, with a drum set… plus a few midi tracks with corresponding audio loops. Raum on a send.
I hope it can run that. Force can handle it no problem, but the plugins are better here, the sounds are better here, and the time stretching is supposedly far better.
I can’t wait for a deep review.
Best of luck towards the future!
Maschine seems to be tailored to the Hiphop/R&B producer, and it looks like a great tool. Sampling should be amazing, and the synth kit it comes with looks to be another all in one box for the MPC workflow. Looks great. Would be cool if they made a keyboard version, with full Reaktor/Kontakt built in (Sorry to repeat) for synth (Reaktor) enthusiast’s like myself, but I think this will be well received with the folks they are marketing it to.
what about multiple time signature changes within a project?
Never heard of a keyboard version of any NI Maschine, ever. I thought it was always a grid pad thing
