This is really exciting.
This would be pretty sweet but my Maschine studio has been sitting in the corner in used for about a year.
Following out of professional curiosity.
Obviously the more efficient choice. Though, there is something to be said about separating the music making from the rest of the world.
If it were between this and an MPC Live, I would choose this(I’m curious on how easy it is to power portably).
Though, after hearing about this release I did some research on Maschine and apparently they’re fixing their arranger to be as dynamic as any other DAW.
I foresee a possible used Maschine mk3 in my future when the update drops
Some folks just really really hate computers.
There’s something to be said about the intimacy of you and gear without the middleman of Mr/Mrs Computer.
The romantic part of me wants this. The pragmatic part of me wants to slap the hand of the romantic with a ruler
Hold tight folks --something will be coming from Elektron that I reckon will be better
Better is questionable, dependant on the needs of each person.
Unless Elektron are going to shatter their existing structure, if they drop something new it’s not going to be comparable to this
Octatrack fans will be happy?
What is it? When is the announcement?
A year ago this would have been the machine I always wanted apart from a standalone push2/ableton machine
But after getting an mpc live i realised im happy staying itb and my hardware providing something different. I thought the mpc was great and could replace the laptop for me but it was a similar process to using a computer and it did less. For example my digitakt and opz both allowed me to make tracks but they felt and sounded different than my itb productions.
Hopefully they’ve implemented interesting sequencers and other functionality that doesn’t just emulate maschine software. If they haven’t im not knocking it as I’ve no doubt it will be excellent and fit many peoples wish list
I guess my wish for a standalone piece is a push2 type machine that integrates max for live and allows anyone to develop plugins for it. Not sure how possible that is, bit like a large organelle type machine with plenty of pads and nobs
This product will be on my radar. I have avoided the Akai MPC stand-alone units due to their reliance on a touch screen workflow.
I own a NI Maschine MK2, but it has rarely been used. The reason is that I preferred the MPC Renaissance at the time, and later returned to an all hardware setup to move away from the PC. However, a stand-alone Maschine could possibly replace the Pioneer DJ SQUID sequencer (and Pioneer DJ SP-16) in my studio.
I love the Pioneer DJ SQUID, but the lack of basic sequencer functions, such as a song mode and record count-in, has me looking for other options to improve my efficiency in the studio. Based on the information available, the Maschine+ looks promising for the specific tasks I need it to perform.
I’m interested to see if genuine and what it has to offer but kind of feels like an incredible waste of resources. Maschine has always been billed as a tool to make ITB feel like OTB. Like a bridge between worlds. And it’s done that very well (give it take a few limitation’s and quirks).
I would rather have seen NI develop their software more. Those NI forum pages are full of issues and wish lists identified by users. It also includes some broken promises from NI over the years too.
Anyway, if genuine, might flood the market with some used MK3s that I could be tempted by…
Id love reaktor in a standalone box that allowed to build fx units, synths and sequencers etc which I guess this could be depending on how reaktor is integrated
you don’t have to use the touch screen though
Ah! I just realized a possible missconception with this unit.
Per the Vintage King post regarding the included software. I think a lot of people assumed that this software would be available inside the unit- which would be awesome. However, i reckon the computer licenses will be provided alongside the unit.
As in, the software will be given to you in addition of the standalone and will not be a part of the actual standalone. I guess to give you Native Instruments instruments you sample from your computer instead of an ability to compose within the box they’re selling you.
Doesn’t change my decision to buy a used mk3 when the arranger update drops, but I wanted to rain on people’s parade(ignore this if you’re planning to sell your mk3 when this is released)
I initially thought the same that you did - that the included list of synths were just for computer, but based on the wording I think they might actually be standalone.
“Maschine+ includes Maschine+ Selection, a curated package of instruments, effects, and Expansions chosen for use in both standalone and controller mode:
It then lists all of the included things, included the synths and effects I called out. We will see. It is interesting the subset that they are supporting seems to be very specifically things that I could imagine working in standalone.
I’ll re-review the listing. I hope you’re right, because that would be neat
Edit: yeah dude! That’s what it says! It seems pretty unmistakable! Neato!
Now the question is- how will these be implemented within the limited atmosphere of Maschine? Maschine has, traditionally, offered limited access to instrument parameters within the software- will the ability to access these instruments be limited to a few macros per preset?(looking primarily at FM8)
I‘ll hold my breath to anything NI releases until the new management takes over and they reveal what they outlined with their „One Native“ idea (which probably will be a subscription model).
They did many good things in the past but screwed up big times along the road and are now behind in many aspects of their portfolio.
I have been dreaming about this since i had maschine studio, back in the day… Hope its real
