The mention of a €5000 interface in that talk, and the €2400 “instant mastering box” all seem at odds to the roots of techno, which was all about innovation and using fairly modest gear in interesting, non audiophile ways, snobbery and elitism has no place in any kind of techno I want to hear. I’d rather listen to someone like Legowelt or Ed DMX etc than Stimming et al anyway, where the emphasis is on interesting music rather than sterile boring audiophile “techno” but that’s just me.

I would love to see a double blind test between converters of OT, ur22, mid end and a high end converter with different types of source material.
The subject is as cringey to me as people claiming to hear the difference between power cables.

It is all just bollocks, grandstanding with the implication that “if you can’t hear it, don’t worry you obviously don’t have the hearing” aka the Emperors New Clothes, problem for them is these things are easily debunked with measurements, blind tests and what not, and not a single example of the reported bad quality has been demonstrated.
We have not even got into the playback method, environment, and equipment of the venue or end listener, all of which would have much much greater magnitude than the converters used, which by the way are perfectly fine anyway.
People will believe what they want to believe, fine, but posting incorrect information in a review is sloppy and bad form, IMHO.

And those cables are even on the cheap side. Have seen USB and Ethernet cables for as much as 600 euro per meter. Diamond cut, titanium shielded. I mean obviously the bits are going to be way cleaner that way.

Make sure to use Air Pure cables for 27k (stereo pair).

Priorities folks how can I be mad at Stimming when I can’t even find a decent salmon skin salad in Japan, seriously it’s delicious Japanese food but it doesn’t come from Japan and you can’t get it in Japan so why do they even call it Japanese food in the first freakin place!..

four things I need to clarify: - in 19:13 the loop doesnt sound clean because I had the timestretch on the bassdrum active - when its off, its clean. - sorry I didnt show the sound of the timestretch on my little 8-bar composition, would have been interesting as its quite good but definitely audible. - my math example at around 28min leads to a 2bar loop, you would have to multiply by seven to get the one-bar loop - my complaint about the sound quality and comparing it with a 5year old mid-range smartphone might be a bit rude, I admit, but to be more precise the sound quality reminds me of the steinberg ur22 interface which I used for the “beats on a budget” series. so, the sound-quality in my opinion is comparable to an entry level usb soundcard from 5 years ago.
If you ask me…an entry level USB soundcard from 5 years ago is still amazing compared to the recording devices we had fourty years ago… So take notice of his opinion, but it´s just his opinion and keep moving on, making music.
Octatrack owners are happy.

I worked at record stores all through the 2000s and the title “Hanging out with Audiophiles” gave me a little chill. Their turf was across the street down the block.

I’ve never worked in a record store. I can’t remember band names, album/track titles (maybe because I don’t buy records).
Most of the time I don’t know what the artist looks like - most often I do not even know the name - the gender or what he/she wears … no clue. I’m only after the emotions the frequencies will give me. So what he says is 100% true for me.
How many Stimming records do you guys have? Or how many times did you see him play live or dj? So why argue about what he thinks about the octatrack?

Oh I know! I’m not the only one who got rid (for health reasons) only for 1.4 to drop. I think I missed it by weeks, but someone on here missed it by hours (IIRC)
I don’t know what the OT does to the sound but whatever it is, it sounds f’n incredible on a load pa.
