Setting aside the marketing-speak and bullet points for a moment, we’d just like to say that we’re very proud of this instrument, which is the result of many months of research and development in both DSP and user interface methods, and the first product of this new chapter in the history of Audio Damage. Our goal was to try to make granular synthesis as easy to understand and use as subtractive, and to make it as musical and playable as possible. Whether we’ve succeeded or not is up to you folks to decide, of course, but we are really pleased with what we’ve come up with here, and are excited to show it to you.
This is the most interesting to me. 8-voice 8-bit with both digital and analog filters, semi-mod patch points, a sequencer, and a mod matrix. 3 octaves is perfect.
haha I was there when Nick from Sonicstate made the video. 11am in the morning.
my highlight soundwise was to play on the OB6. The filter sounds sooo great.
Also Digitone really catched me. So many parameters to modulate on the FM synth enginge. This maschine needs definitly more lfos … or at least 2 destinations per lfo.
Also the Dfam was good fun but lacks on more modulation sources! I guess best is to put it in a skiff with a bigger stepsequencer with euclidean rytm gates and some lfos. Is more like a great sound source the way as it is … but 8 steps just leads to similar sequences each time.
Also testet the DSI Prophet Rev 2 … but for me it doesn´t sound as sweet as the OB6.
Didn´t felt the Boland SH101 either. Big plastic box
Considering sampling external source , it might be possible.
The output is actually a 4 pole one. Often used to host hand free earphones, headsets…so with an input.
But it can also have a whole different function…so? But still possible
Yeah I agree… but for me it’s too expensive. but it sounds gorgeous and deep sometimes a bit like chordpad from FM one of my favorite sound Pads are definitely WARM on the OB6, it’s perfect for that.
I remember few years ago I would like to buy the Evolver only to make one track out of this sequence
Edit: I recommend beginners to watch its MPSTT - Ep. 2 - Berlin School Sequencing on youtube it’s on sequencing and it’s very interesting. very Trance the good way but it should also be transposed in a more Lil Louis way as well
Oh my. I really shouldn’t have watched that Evolver video again. Been a while. Now I feel the urge to get one. I bought it when it came out, but sold it on before really giving it enough of a chance. I will try to satisfy this urge by piling some some PPG wavetables on to the Digitakt or maybe firing up the Monomachine.
Yeah, but Behringer seriously upped the game versus the Volcas and came in at half the price of the Boutiques. You’re right that it’s an evolution on what Korg started.
No matter what you think of the guy, it’s kind of cool to have stuff available again that disappeared as technologies advanced, and if other people aren’t willing to take the risk doing it…(meaning the original manufacturers)
Twas a fairly lackluster event for me, aside from the Dreadbox offerings. The only Behringer clone i’ll be buying is the BMS BCS 3 if it ever comes to fruition!
Wow! This is something else though. A higlight of the Superbooth 2018 for me.
Never even heard of this guy before but the stuff he makin seems obsessively off-the-wall and original. Two thumbs up!
I really do hope that Elektron comes out one day with a granular hardware synthesizer and wave table synthesizer to compete with Waldorf, Access Virus and Tasty Chips. That would be so awesome!
Unfortunately I couldn’t make it at superbooth this year and at the moment not on a steady internet connection, so I can’t watch the videos either. Does anyone know the prices for the new erica synth eurorack
eurorack modules, bassdrum, drum mixer and dual fx?
