Work was an incredible waste of time today so out came the Syntakt for a play. Tried my best not to follow my usual plinky synth stuff but it’s chuffing hard so this is the best I could muster today. I’ll break the mould eventually! At the very least, it stopped my bitching about the OP1F’s price for a few hours…
This one is a little sloppy, my timing was off on parts but first stab at using the FX block a little bit in places.

I think aside from the chord, it sounds very Analog Rytm-ish.
The clap machine is fast becoming one of my favourite things about Syntakt.

Yea making hats from claps has really given me a second wind for using this box. Layered with the CH metallic and I get crunchy 606 hats. Layered with UT noise and I get an interesting techno “chk” hat that sits way differently than the alloy hat machine.
And while it doesn’t replace a 909 hat because it’s not a sample, it takes away the longing for one.
I also played with making hats from the noise layer on some of the analog SD or RS machines. Can find a little more attack than the UT Noise, but again these are more ideal for layering since you only have one filter, and in that case, bandpass was the way to go.
For all the AR and MC DNA this thing has, finding “my sound” has reminded me of working on Machinedrum, more than anything else (my MD wasn’t UW).
Radical acceptance of each synth machine’s ins and outs can lead to rewarding results.
Now I just need to go back and replace the hats on two banks of patterns , ha.

I remember being impressed, when investigating the Model:Cycles more than a year ago, by a series of demos or videos that had all sounds on several tracks coming from a single machine, to demonstrate how far they could be stretched. That kind of exploration takes some discipline and commitment, but is likely to pay off.
I recorded something again. This was the very first thing I made on it right after unboxing it. Audio goes through the RNLA compressor and then straight into my phone again.
Did some experiments with making six-voice analog chords by using three Dual VCO, inspired by the Juno-60 with its chorus. Chorus effect created by sweeping delay time on the FX track. One pattern and audio straight from the main outs.
