Synthstrom Audible Deluge [inc. Open Source development]

Yes and like the OT too in this respect, all 3 devices offer sufficient depth such that they are used in many different ways by different users.

thatā€˜s what makes them so interesting :+1:

Oh yes, wavetables!

Personally Iā€™d like to see (and I keep going on, and on, and on about it) the ability to modulate sample start and end points. Thereā€™s been no indication this is happening yet but I live in hope. Itā€™s probably the thing I miss the most from the Octatrack. Actually the only thing.

Write to Ian, maybe he puts in on the ole to do list. They are small and a single super approachable lead dev is doing all the work himself, Iā€™d take advantage of that (:

Yeah, I have a good relationship with them due to making a few software tools for the Deluge (and was in the Beta group before I left Facebook).

They just seem to be carving their own path which is both exciting, as they donā€™t seem to have lost any passion for developing the machine further and also a little frustrating as I want them to implement all of my ideas :joy:

This has been asked for from users from the start, and Iā€™m surprised itā€™s not been implemented, as theyā€™re always so good at adding stuff thatā€™s required.

I wonder if there is some technical reason behind it. Would it be resource heavy to have the start time on a sample modulated, particularly with how many individual samples you can lay down on the grid?

My guess (and hope) is that this will be addressed when they will implement the wavetable function, for which there is already a shortcut marked in the panel layoutā€¦

I canā€™t imagine itā€™s difficult to do (and I used to be, sort of still am, an audio programmer so I donā€™t speak from a position of complete ignorance :grinning:). You can, after all, enter the waveform editor while any sample is playing and manipulate the start, end and loop points. It just needs that connecting to the modulation matrix and boom!

Something that will have to change (and I registered this years ago) is that having Sample Start and Sample End is a mistake - it should be Sample Start and Sample Length. Then you can set a fixed loop size and modulate the start point for some wave-scanning/granular-style coolness. I guess if youā€™ve never had an Octatrack that kind of thing wonā€™t be important (hence it being a low priority thing) but once you have thereā€™s no going back

Oh so youā€™re deep into the community?

Yah their dedication to improving the hardware and making ppl happy is hard to surpass. Some of the stuff they crammed into recent firmware releases were not that useful to me, Iā€™d rather had some more basic improvements re sound engine, mod matrix, arp etc. would be more interesting. But man thereā€™s no way Iā€™d complain about them adding a looper and whatnot.
The gift that keeps on givingā€¦

I used to be more than I am. This is mainly due to their insistence on using Facebook as a user base (the official forums are all-but dead to be fair). I wonā€™t get involved in Facebook since I quit it and I donā€™t see what the advantage is in concentrating support and the testing groups on FB. But hey, itā€™s not my company, Iā€™m sure they have their reasons.

But yes, much the same, quite a few of the recent updates are of no interest to me (though I am warming to the looper stuff). More power to them, itā€™s a great little team and a really refreshing attitude theyā€™re taking. Canā€™t wait for Deluge 2 - imagine them translating what theyā€™ve already learned from the Deluge (1) and then taking it to the next step. My money is already half-way out of my pocket!

The looper is the only reason I box to sell and reopen. I actually ended my eBay auction once I used the looper. Itā€™s so much fun and burn hours with it and guitar.

Damn donā€™t mention it, Deluge is overkill already, you know too many possibilities, Deluge2 is bound to be even more overwhelmingā€¦and I donā€™t think thereā€™s a remote chance of me not buying it. (:

Mhm facebook, legacy website for old folks and political lunatics. (;

A Deluge with enough buttons for a simple UI and a decent screen would be a very tempting prospect, so much is great about the current Deluge but it is matched by so much that is a pain to use, IMHO.

One thing that irks me is the audio recording direct into arranger, it should be set track to audio recorder, set zoom level to accommodate desired length, hold grid pad where you want to start recording from, press where you want it to stop recording, start recording, done.

Little Live Set with the Deluge

if you put down a clip in the arranger the recording stops automatically at the beginning of that clip.

Nice 3.1 update out today. Lots of cool stuff.

Anyone here actively using the Boards of Deluge sound sets? I always felt the Deluge sound engine a bit dull, but when I hear these sounds, Iā€™m thinking I was wrong. I always find these things hard to tell over YouTube and stuff, the subtle stuff that makes a difference gets lost in whatever cuts it out as itā€™s uploaded.

I Actively use the 3 Boards of Deluge and they are awesome melodic additions to almost anythingā€¦

I am also actively trying to tweak the engine presets to sound half as good but it is quite a challenge as I just got the Delugeā€¦

Anyone knows alternative synth presets for the Deluge that get the most out of the engine like the BOD series ?

Thanks. Yeah, I remember I never managed to get a single preset sounding like anything I liked when I had the Deluge. But that sound pack sounds pretty great.

I love the sound packs. Theyā€™re great and way better than anything I couldā€™ve ever gotten. Really opens the machine up nicely. Just bought the 3rd one today.
