You mean it’s not properly a multi-track? For example I record Tracks 1 -3 and then I can’t go back to record Tracks 4-6? I must record all 6 tracks in one go?
Yea you can do that, you can even overdub on the already recorded tracks.
But you have to determine how many tracks you want to be able to record to when you first make a new recording. So you can’t make a new recording With only 1 track and then go back and add a second track to that recording…
I’ll make a short video when I have the time…
Fair warning though I won’t have any time for atleast a couple of days 🥲
this essentially turns the tx6 + tp7 combo into a stem player with effects- tp7 can play multitrack playback and tx6 can mix and do effects. but have to admit, kind of strange you need both units to do that. tx6 could just play back multitracks from a usb stick. in any case, sounds like a lot of fun!
Right.
I’m so in.
Gonna make a few phone calls now
This is such a strange thing to produce. If it offered ultra high quality 1-bit DSD recording or had authentic lo-fi 12-bit converters, I would find it far more desirable.
The thing that interests me the most about the TP-7 is potentially being able to use it as a portable turntable for scratching with a small mixer. I wonder what portion of the unit’s cost went into that motorized jog wheel. Maybe it feels amazing?
I’m so out.
Three stereo outs for live mixing won’t work for my use case
It was good while it lasted.
Actually makes me consider one of these. Getting off topic now, I suppose. But still, this is the use case I’m looking for.
Just give us a goddam porta, TE, but with your hipster voodoo all over it.
I just saw a video demonstrating the rotating wheel, and it made me wonder, does the TP-7 have a pitch control, like you see on 1200’s?
I see mention in the manual to FX but does not elaborate unless im blind?
yeah
If you’re mixing with the tx6 you get 6 stereo tracks out over usb right? I think that’s what I understand
forgive me if this was answered already but can you connect op1f to tp7 via usb and record 4 tape tracks to a multichannel file at once (rather than dubbing 4x)? this has probably been suggested or discussed but i wanna confirm the answer
edit: oops just saw the answer above
Yup. Or 12 mono I guess or a mix of either
Absurd concept but if they designed a modular usb hub you could link 2 tp7 and two tx6 with a row of assignable knobs and vu meter and make a 24 track tape / mix dream machine hahha. Exposed L side rocker can sync control both tp7 wheels.
Maybe the research on the spinning dial will be applied to new op-z field dials?
Yep. It’s the three stereo out from the TP-7 that limits me, if I understand this correctly.
In a use case where I’d record all four tracks from the OP-1 separately, as stereo stems into the TP-7, I’d still only be able to separate these four onto three outputs (unless I go mono - which I won’t).
For something in this price range, that’s just not an interesting compromise. I would at least want to be able to have four tracks running separately into the tX-6 from the TP-7 if I’m going down that route.
I guess you cant do all via USB-C?
If so, that’d work for me
If the TP-7 streams all its recorded tracks from one project onto the TX-6, split up across 6 stereo or 12 mono or whatever combo is possible, I’m back in
