“the usb-c can be used as a class compliant multi channel audio interface. depending on what it is connected to, you can get up to six stereo channel audio, in and out.”
So presume if works with TX-6 (must do surely?) then guess leave USB-C connected for recording in via TX-6 and sending back out also for live TX-6 mixing maybe??
I guess still an embargo with beta testers / reviewers on this device as sure we will see the above combo
it says 6 tracks: TX-6 (12 channel mode) which should definitely indicate the ability to record 6 stereo tracks; it wouldnt make sense if your able to record 6 stereo tracks then be limited to playback of 3. So i think 6 stereo track playback over USB is likely. But i guess a demo of this will reveal all and if it is as smooth as it sounds
*edit just watched a vid from superbooth where tobias confirms 6 stereo track usb multitracking from tx 6
The coolest feature imo is the TX-6 integration.
Using TX-6 in/out USB setting you can record 6 stereo tracks from TX-6 into TP-7 and then play the recordings back via TX-6 and have each track be affected by EQ, Comp, faders etc.
I guess if the TX-6 USB recording function did multitrack it would make this requirement of the TP-7 redundant maybe?
Also if you own and travel with an iPad etc also - I look forward to demoing Logic on iPadOS next week with my TX-6. Subscription puts me off mind - maybe they will have a purchase option eventually
Ah cool - guess memos etc would get a good use then.
Actual Field Recordings was what I was hoping this device would excel at in the TX-6 form factor but sadly it seems it would require a cable and external mic.
Im sure like the TX-6 other features will be unlocked eventually. Im still hoping they have other plans for the TX-6 firmware love the damn thing more then the OP-1 hehe
Anyone has seen any info whether this has midi? Would be great and make it truly outstanding, as Zoom has dropped midi years ago … I have been looking for a midified handheld recorder for ages.
Do the audio inputs provide plug-in power for external electret mics?
Also, we still don’t know how good are the recording specs, like noise and such.
Only a handful of field recorders are suitable for ambient recordings; some of them are sound devices ones and sonny d100 (-127 db), even tascam dr100 mk3 (-126 db). I would expect tp7 to be at that or near that level, anything better than -123 would be ok but somehow I doubt it will be better
I love this lil tape recorder.
If I had such a chunk of change I’d love to have the entire field collection.
Even if I did t plan to use it extensively, having all 4 would be so appealing.
this is the most appealing part of the “field kit” paradigm to me - octatrack-esque performance capability and dj-style recording playback without a power adaptor and it fits in a purse
One feature that a lot of people I have talked to want (including myself), is the ability to loop by designating an in and out point and then to be able to overdub/layer as it loops. This would make it work in a similar fashion as the Instruo Lubadh. I really hope they add this feature.
