The Frustration is (no longer) real

Arg, the flow and the interface are easy, but I just got a used Octatrack in near mint condition and have been having problems with the USB connectivity to my macbook.

I first used the original flashcard and it only connects some of the time to the macbook, and when it did, I had the option to actually get to the ‘Audio’ folder in the sets/project folder. However, when I tried to drag a sample into the Audio folder, it would try and prep it, then say the card was full. The card had like 15gigs on it and this was a 3mgb file.

Sometimes when doing USB disk mode, it would just freeze in the middle. So I figured maybe the card is corrupted. I went to Best Buy and bought a Sandisk 50MB/s CompactFlash Card. Inserted it and got the frowny face. Connected it again via USB and none of the sets/projects show up, and the name on the mac Finder calls it ‘No Name.’

So is this an issue with the card? with the OT?

Edit: K, I used the orig flashcard with a card reader I found in my drawer. Loaded samples just fine, but now got the ‘wrong compact flash card inserted’ when I load up the octatrack with it again. Is the original issues just a USB problem?

Edit 2: Sweet, I think I got it. Still curious about the USB connection though as I’d like to be able to use that. I may try to reset the USB hub later this evening.

I actually really like how the OT operates with the CF…on the OT, I can even take the card out and plug it into a normal card reader to do things to it…not that simple on my A4 and AR.

Use a good quality USB cable.
I had problems at first.
I now use my best quality cable for the OT and the connection is solid.

Ya, I’ll have to try a different usb at some point.

So far so good though and having lots of fun with it. It’s fairly straightforward navigating and working with the machine.
