The Guitar Thread

Yes I tried the DC2w on the Rev2 but via the mixer fx loop (SSLSiX cue/ext), so I could mix to taste rather than straight into the DC2w which would have no mix control. That said, it sounded excellent.
I found the chorus in the Rev2 a bit pedestrian, but I get excellent chorus naturally by layering and panning with pitch modulation, basically a true 16 voice (32 OSC) chorus  Throw in Slop and pan modulation, it gets wilder. This is how I decided the Rev2 was my perfect string machine.

As for guitar and Bass, Iā€™d keep the CE-2B and replace the resistor inline with the mix pot to half its value, and swap the 47cap on the depth control with a 60. And jump points 3&4 to get 9v  and Iā€™d keep the so called high pass bass filtering cap as is, which sounds better for guitar too; more depth especially with distortion/OD.

Whoa, 60uf? This is not a common cap value!?!

But good to hear your thoughts. I will have to try and recreate a patch as you describe:). Youre using 1 lfo to mod pitch and another to mod pan on layer A and then doing same on layer B but changing rates/depths differently? And prob a no no to talk too much synth in this thread sorry so i will stop right there. :grinning:

pF tiny disc type. Itā€™s a very subtle change, the kind of thing you notice in a side by side test. Altogether the mod I described sounds closer to the CE-1 mode on the new CE-2w but with mix control.

On the Rev2, like you said, just copied A layer to B that has a few more cents and rate change on the OSC tuning, so just mimicking a standard chorus. But yeh, no rules.

The underside is a bit of a mess.

If you canā€™t see it, it doesnā€™t exist eh.

My setup stresses me out, need a bigger pedal board for a start but canā€™t be arsed coughing up the cash for one. Iā€™m dreading when Iā€™ll get asked to play a gig again and Iā€™ve to move themā€¦

Any 'nauts have experience with these newer Fender ā€œTone Masterā€ solid state amps? Iā€™m kinda eyeing the Deluxe Reverb as a replacement for my ~20yr old Peavey solid state. Itā€™s a fine amp, but Iā€™m starting to perform again and would really like to be able to XLR-out with a cab sim but also use it as a practice amp at home. I could really give a shit about tube tone ā€“ Iā€™m not really trying to attain any kind of special drive sound or any of that. Would I be overpaying for a TM Deluxe Reverb if I plan to attenuate it for whatever db I need to hit while keeping the vol control below ā€œtube break-upā€ ranges? Iā€™d really like something that sounds good and has consistency in tone between my practice/rehearsal setup and my performance setup.

I love my Arion SCH-1 - I keep meaning to make a clone - itā€™s the nicest chorus Iā€™ve triedā€¦

That was one of my first pedals when I was a teenager. I loved that thing. I bought an sch-z to replace it after the original was lost when my rehearsal space was robbed but it didnā€™t have the same magic. Sch-1 is probably my vote for favorite chorus pedal too.

It was my first pedal too ! Still my favourite chorus pedal ! Always worried it will die one day ! Iā€™d be gutted if I lost itā€¦ so I feel for youā€¦

(Replying to this thread prompted me to start laying out a clone tonight ! Iā€™ve had the schematic for years)

Cool! Please post about it here if you do end up cloning it. I lost mine before cloning something had even occurred to me. I was on a very different path in my early electronics tinkering years.

I will do - Iā€™ll definitely get around to it in - probably a couple of months before it is built.

Did anyone pick this up? Wondering how it and the presets are. Thanks!

This link should help you decide.

Iā€™ve played a tone master, thought it was lovely. You canā€™t go wrong with fender. Iā€™m all in on the bass breaker amps tho but if your gigging that super light tone master will be welcome thing to lift about - I think they updated the tone master from the first run so Iā€™d make sure itā€™s one not long out the factory.

there are some being sold for $45 on reverbā€¦ :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:
edit:theres a weird listing of one for $39 on reverb, the rest are higher priced. probably wonā€™t buy this weirdly priced oneā€¦

Been picking up guitar after about 7 years of not playing and feeling v inspired.
I will be practicing fingerpicking and am thinking about merging that stuff with beats made with OT and/or MD.

Some of my fav players are: Andrew Clinco (Drab Majesty), Rowland S. Howard, Lee Ranaldo, George Harrison, Carl-Michael Eide (Ved Buens Ende and Virus), and Dimebag Darrel.

Itā€™s a beautiful instrument that really rewards the hours put into practicing it and I love the expressive power it has.

You guys might have seen this, but if you havenā€™t yet, Sean Daniel made a cool video regarding guitar practice with an Analog Rytm MK2.

That sounds suspiciously incredibly cheap for an sch-1 !

Same here! So many incredible resources on Youtube and others available now. I really have no excuse.

Some favorite players are:

  • Alex De Grassi
  • Allan Holdsworth
  • Billy McLaughlin
  • David Rhodes (w/ Peter Gabriel)
  • Ian Williams (w/ Don Caballero)
  • John Squire
  • Mike Kinsella

I also love the new crop of Americana/country guitarists in Ryley Walker, William Tyler, Daniel Donato, and Steve Gunn to name a few.

Awesome!!

There really are! Eric Haugen is by far the most helpful, informative, inspiring and funny YT teacher Iā€™ve come across. I would strongly recommend checking out his videos if you havenā€™t already.

Eric Haugen is excellent. I love his style of teaching. I can actually follow along most of the time without having to pause. I like Paul Davids too, but I end up having to hit the rewind button so many times.
