Tips for Digitone + Digitakt

Hi guys,

I just moved to a new house to have more privacy and be able to continue making music after my daughter made the old studio her room.

I had the Digitakt for about a year now, and just added the Digitone with an Arturia Keystep. I am trying to work with only those pieces (and monitors/headphones of course…).

What are your best advice to help me quickstart this new journey?

I went through the Cuckoo’s megatutorial and tried digesting some part of the manual which can be a bit hard.

Thanks!

Congrats on your new Digitone! It’s a really great companion to the Digitakt. I’d recommend watching Ivar Tryti’s YouTube video on setting up the Digitakt + Digitone – has lots of helpful tips when getting started. It got me up and running with the duo in no time:

Thanks!

My best advice : record every track you make.

Even if it’s shit, keep your tracks on your hard drive to see you progression.

There is no rules, just try things and record it. You will find your workflow with experience.

My issue is not how to make loops, rater how to break from them and develop a track out of the loops.

I have managed to work it out doing hiphop as I reworked my samples and drums throughout the songs, but working with this set I need to do all the changes in effects manually to come up with new ideas.

I cannot jam for a long time developping the same idea.

@MilesKvndra has some very useful information on his youtube channel. The guy is a great instructor and lays it all out clearly. Here’s a video that might be useful if you’re still struggling with this challenge that so many of us have

Thanks a bunch for sharing Sean, really appreciate that! Still struggle a lot with this today but I found some techniques to overgo this and finish more music. But if you guys have some different ideas how to tackle this I’d be super happy to hear.
