I know it’s like making a comparaison between apples and pears but I do have a TR-909 but while I love, I’m slowly looking to swap it for the AR which can cover more my needs.
I was wondering if any of you in here did that swap ? If so, adding 909 samples into it helps you to get the same flavour in case you miss is sometimes ?
Joking aside, that would be a smaller footprint, more capable setup, but you do have to consider if you might regret getting rid of the original 909, chances are you’ll have to pay more in the future than what you’d get for it today.
Coming from someone who sold lots of classic gear in recent years including 808 and 909, I don’t regret it but what I sold them for a few years back is less than half what they currently sell for, so there is very little chance of me getting a 808 or 909 again.
But I don’t want them, I’m more happy with the gear I currently have so no regrets.
Edit: Yes sample the hell out of it before you sell it.
A couple of TR-8s owners on here have mentioned they preferred the 09 over the TR-8s version of the 909, but if you get plenty of samples of your 909 then you might want to go with the TR-8s for the improved sequencing then load it up with your own 909 samples?
Maybe that’s true, maybe it isnt. Question is, does it matter?
If the OP is considering getting rid of the TR909, that suggests to me at least, that the TR909 isnt that special.
As with most instruments, its mostly subjective anyway right?
I second this.
I love the machine, don’t get me wrong but I’m just seeing myself doing drums I prefer with my modular or my A4. I’m just a bit afraid to regret but time will tell
