The thing i miss most about the tr8, the vast array of stutter/fill from the big ol knob.
How fantastic would it be if they made that into a stand alone effect!
The ottobit from merris gets pretty close, it seems, but not quite the same.

Unfortunately hardly noone else had either. Discontinued very quickly and people caught on shortly after. I’d like the whole series!
Anyone know how close the boss SL-20 can get? I guess the boss is more fixed in it’s patterns? Is the SL more of an alt tremolo when compared to the scooper/tr8 scatter?
The only thing, not that big of a dealbreaker because of how magic those little boxes are, but you have to record the sample first and then you can mess with it. The TR8 and MX-1 do it instantly.
I remember when I ran my Machinedrum through the TR8. I made some crazy twisted stuff with said scatter effect.
Sure is a lot of fun!

Do you have a video of the exact type of effects? The recall getting a lot of nice stutters and repeats using the MDUW (pre-Octatrack days). Sometimes I think it did those things even better than the Octa. Likely false memory on my part due to the sheer joy of first being able to do little live sampling tricks way back when…
