I think you can only preview the samples from your computer.
From the manual :
2.3 EXPLORE PAGE
On the EXPLORE page, you have a two-column explorer view with the Elektron device’s contents on one side and the computer contents on the other side (or with the device’s content on both sides). Here you can do easy drag and drop transfers of files and directories from your computer to your device, or the other way around. You can also preview the samples you have on your computer here or rearrange the content on your device.

I can’t believe Elektron has the Tranfer 1.4 update like news for months now on the frontpage of their site.
I forwarded a friend to look for some Elektron hardware and she was a bit confused by the frontpage. Just saying…
7 months without an update to their own landing page - is that normal?
I hardly ever go there unless i’m reporting a bug tbh…
Anyone got transfer 1.4 dmg knocking around? Trying to update my boxes and transfer 1.5 doesn’t open on big sur… Im not ready to upgrade the mac OS just yet…
