Trigger sample on midi channels 9-16?

How would you assign a sample to midi channel 9 to trigger from the midi in? I have successfully used 1 - 8. The only way my controller can send note/octive changes is to send on a specific channel instead of sending to midi notes 0 - 7. Is there a way to trigger a sample on midi channels 9 - 16?

You can change the MIDI channel numbers on which the Digitakt’s audio tracks receive in the SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > CHANNELS menu.

Oh yeah sorry I meant is there a way to have 16 samples, each assigned to a different midi channel across all 16.
