When i ask this im talking about having most control over a drum pattern and how it sounds. Individual beats and how they can be filtered nicely or have fx put on them. The sequencer can have different length patterns as well. Usability is important as well.

Yes ive just been using them for a project. I know exactly how great they are. Just thinking if there is a hardware device that can match.

MPC One/Live/X. Probably currently unmatched outside of using a computer DAW, although it is a bit crippled sequencer wise for certain things like polymeter compared to some other hardware, but you could always trigger it via midi.

Also usability is subjective, I don’t enjoy using the MPC personally, but for certain things it can’t be beat (pun intended)
The power it has (inevitably) comes at a cost of usability, although note that it is not required to utilise every feature, and TBH most users barely scratch the surface.
