Why has no one built the perfect sampler yet?

Orrrr, just add stereo, more project mem and storage mem, internal batt, transient slice detection, and increased sequencer resolution to the digitakt and call it a day

Products – CHOMPI CLUB

I’ve lost hope of a ‘perfect sampler’ for me, and more so after reading some of this thread, but thankfully there’s loads of great options now and some barely get a look in.

“Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this: the peak of your civilization.”

1999 baby! :partying_face::partying_face:

For the same reason no one ever created the perfect thread

Sounds like you need an iPad.

I would love it if someone made a standard hardware UI that could drive an iPad with no screen touching, that lots of apps supported. But that’s a seriously stupid distant dream.

Most of my performances are in warm/direct sunlight/outdoors, so my iPad resides in the beer cooler most of the time.
It’s very much possible, but like any controller, you only get out of it what you put in. You’ll be spending a good amt of time doing that scripting part you mentioned.

I wish that I could somehow convince some company to let me design my perfect sampler just so I could see how many people would absolutely hate it.

I’m kinda making that right now! It’s A handheld 16 track MIDI sequencer with screen, 4x4 matrix for playing keys, 16 button step sequencer, and 4 encoders. The sequencers have a lot of the same functionality of the elektron boxes only more included to make it a more enjoyable melodic experience (better arps, chord modes, and quicker step editing). Users can create and save MIDI profiles that can be setup with any MIDI signal (all 127 cc, program change, etc). You can even load multiple mapped profiles on a single track to create a device/fx chain. I’ve also built a companion iOS app that demonstrates how AUM or loopy pro could easily use MIDI signals to open devices, change presets, fetch MIDI changes, and save and open projects. I’m currently testing it outside and am able to leave my phone in my pocket and listen through my AirPods! I’m still adding more and would love to get feedback and inputs on what you think would be cool.

Why has no one built the perfect sampler yet?

Most likely because of the same reasons that not all pizza restaurants serve gourmet pizzas.

You mean, wait for someone else to do it for you.

Will it blend, tho?

404MKII is damn near perfect!

I just watched a simple video … making of an aphex twin track on s3000

They played a sample and extended the release on the envelope

Samples OVERLAPPED each other.
They didn’t CUT THEMSELVES OFF

Itd take ages to replicate that on some devices. Multiple tracks , lots of faffing about. On more modern gear.

Sampler development has been a bit weird.

Uh oh, are those elektron products you use bootleg machines you made yourself or did Elektron create them for you?

It’s amazing that for decades and decades, artists have been producing some of the best music in the world with all these inferior samplers. I chalk it up to pure luck, nothing else.
