Man all this talk about what DSI. Synthesizer don’t do that the elektron can.
I don’t know if I made a good or bad call canceling a Tempest order but I can say that I found the mopho 4 for a bargain locally. This board is fun! Sounds are fun Arp FUN, octaves and Filters FUN!!!
I don’t have my 703 or drywall up yet but I cranked my monitors on a few of the subs and bass patches. WHOA! THAT BASS FELT GOOD and FUN!
No dis to anybody or any brand but I lost sleep reading blogs and flip flopping over what to get. Finally own a DSI poly and it’s here to stay!
Personally I can’t stand dsi synths. Cheap and nasty things they are. I cut my teeth on a mek for years and I fucking hated it. Dsi had a skipping encoders fault where it wouldn’t re moan on a value - you can imagine how man noting that was. But I hate the filters.
Each to their own hey.
The Tempest is my favorite synth ever. And I say synth, 'cause I don’t really look at it as strictly a drum machine. I look at it as a versatile 6 voice polyphonic synth with a sequencer. The pads are a dream, hands down better than anything I’ve played before.
As for an all-in-one playground of inspiration and wonder, I’d pick my OP-1. But as a machine that I can find space for on pretty much any song, the Tempest is tops.
Sure it would be nice if it had fully assignable outputs, filter input, sample loading, etc. But it doesn’t and that’s okay. It’s still a wonderful machine that’s a lot of fun to jam on.
there’s definitely been an improvement though. old stuff (evolvers with encoders, some modules, etc) had cheaper build quality and there are os bugs in like the tempest/tetra/etc.
the latest stuff though…mophox4/keys/se, prophet 12 key/module, etc. are just killin it…
