Workarounds for DT + DN regarding longer musical ideas and the 4 bar loop

Hi! I’m using the DT and DN and I love to get a drum loop going on the DT and then improvise a few chords over it with the DN.

I find myself playing much longer than the 4 bars i’m limited to on both the DN and DT, and I’d like to record those chord changes or the chord holds (I sometimes hold the same evolving chord for more than 2 bars) but it keeps triggering on the start of the loop again…

Any workarounds for that?

Also - I haven’t been answered in the last thread I had -
How do I hook both the DT + DN to Overbridge? Is it possible with only 1 USB cable?

You need 2 USB cables.

And regarding the first question, you can use conditional locks, scale per track, change patterns (chaining them or not) or sequence them from other device.

Could also internally sample the drum loop, mute tracks that were used for sampling, cut tempo to half, and bam now you have room to play

is it possible to record while pattern chaining?
also - pretty new to p-locks and the elektron workflow - how would I go about condition locking it?

You can enter live recording mode while chaining, no problem.

I recommend to make a search in the manual, this forum and youtube for:

Parameter locks
Conditional locks / trig conditions
Scale mode
