Dj’s like other musicians have a responsability in choosing the place where they play. It’s like anybody else. We have to be responsable about the persons and club we deal with. If you accept to compromise yourself playing in commercial places, you cannot be other thing than mercenary. Play what they paid for
The recent success of EDM in the US made dance music popular with Joe Average more DJs and artists are being paid more to perform, they get invited to play these parties where the clientèle are mostly there to be seen and want a big name DJ to play “The Hits”.
Quite simply this happens to every form of music when it becomes popular. The old guard want the real deal the ingeneus want “the pop hits”.
